Things are looking up!

As those of you who are familiar with my myLotting habits will be aware, this is my first discussion for months. I can't get internet access at home, and my closest public access facility is a good half hour away in the car. But, as of yesterday, things are looking up! We noticed the husband of the lady who runs the local bar using his laptop between customers. A quick moan about local internet facilities later, and he'd rejigged his router to enable my ancient old laptop to pick up his signal. He passed on his password, and Hey Presto, internet access 5 minutes from my front door :-) So what's the nicest thing that someone has done for you lately? Did you ask them to, or was it a suprise?

This man sounds like an angel - there are some lovely people in the world still! The nicest thing someone has done for me lately was my son deciding to replace the faulty drawer runners in our kitchen while I was away for a couple of days. Unfortunately, the poor lad came unstuck when he couldn't get the necessary parts and had to construct new drawers from scratch. I came home to a bit of a disaster ... but it's halfway to being sorted. I couldn't be cross at the mess because it was such a lovely thing he'd wanted to do, and it's a real shame when you want to do a nice surprise for someone and it goes pear-shaped.

You two are making me feel tired just discussing all this exercise!

You know, I keep saying I'm not at all interested in the Wii Fit, but right now I am interested in being more active, and know watching this discussion has made me want one. Unfortunatly they're still rather expensive, so it will be awhile before I can get one. At the moment, since it's too cold to go outside and I can't afford to go anywhere else, I'm getting the majority of my activity by playing Dance Dance Revolution on the X Box 360. I guess that's better than nothing.

Hi Ellie - and thanks so much for that! I'm not brave enough to actually look at the weight (the BMI is scary enough!) - but I agree, the step aerobics are great, so I do those each a day (one basic and one other) - and a jog. Sometimes I do an island lap, but mostly I do the short one. I love the island lap when you get to follow the dog and he goes through the caves and down on the beach - but that's only happened once - usually I have to follow the person and the route's not as interesting! Hula hoops is HARD!!! My son has the high score on that - and for some weird reason, the panda-head throwing thing gives me a headache - it's painful when you get whumped by boots and pandas (and I can't help thinking about Sconi's panda spanking and wondering whether that's where he got it from) - hahaha! Slalom, penguin and marbles are great - I waste too much time on those trying to beat my son's high scores. The thing I'm having a LOT of trouble with is the rowing squat jobbie in the muscle section. I must have really terrible posture, as I can't get it in the blue area at ALL! My son can - so it's me, not the machine. Is it in the blue area when you do it? When my husband goes back to school at the end of the month and things are back to a 'normal' routine, I'm going to work much harder and will definitely do some muscle and yoga (which I haven't tried yet). It's lovely, though - and definitely motivates me to exercise. Thanks so much for the handy hints ... now I'll have to be 'sensible' so I can report back to you with good progress! xxx

Hi GreenMoo, Well I for one am so pleased you have internet access back. What a lovely thing for that man to do for you. My younger daughter bought me a Wii Fit for Christmas which was very unexpected but she said it was because she was working now and wanted to treat me and I have a fit age of 17 years younger and have lost 3lbs also and spend 1/2hour a day on it and a neighbour suprised me with some flowers to cheer me up after something happened at work. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hi Ellie ... sorry for butting in on your response, but I'd LOVE to know your WiiFit regime! I also received one for Christmas, but I'm afraid I waste a lot of time buggerising around with the balance games rather than doing 'sensible' stuff! As you can imagine, it keeps telling me I'm putting weight ON rather than the other way around! I guess a change in dietary habits would help, too ...

Wow, how nice of him. Of course its not like your going to be running a huge drag on his router. Still it was VERY nice of him to do it. I can't say I've had anything quite so nice happen lately, but I have had people go out of their way to help me.

It´s always lovely when people go out fot heir way to help you. I think this guy in the bar could see larger bar tabs looming, and he was probably right. It´s cost me a fortune in bags of crisps to keep my kids quiet so far!

Wow, how nice! Does this mean you'll be able to get on a bit more often? I can't really think of anything nice someone has done for me lately. I'm sure there's something, it's just that my brain is fully functioning at the moment, lol.

My brain doesn´t seem to function fully much of the time, so you´re in good company LoL I´m rather hoping it means I´ll be online a bit more, but after I posted my discussion he took the router out so Iºm back in the net cafe in town this evening!

Aw, that's a shame. I hope he'll let ya on a bit more often so you don't have to wait until you go to town to get online.

It was a month and a half back. I was on a road trip with a friend of mine. We both were on my Royal Enfield. We had a flat tyre in the middle of nowhere. We culd not do anything but to push the bike. Then a trucker came by and as we signaled him he gave us a lift to the nearest gas station. When I offered him money, he refused to take it. Nice people are still out there.

That´s a really good thing to do. I believe that what you do comes back to you, so I hope someone does that trucker a good turn when he needs it.

Hi GreenMoo, nice to see you back on Mylot...active again. I am glad that your 'ancient old laptop' could pick up the nice gentleman's signals. ;) The nicest thing anyone has ever done to me? Plenty...actually, I have been having loads of fun recently. Planning to start a discussion on it, but don't know how to begin. LOL!! Cheers and happy Mylotting

That's wonderful, what a nice man! We had a heavy snow here this week and I was about to go outside and shovel my walk when along comes my neighbor with his snowblower and voila, my walk was clean! He also did our other neighbor's driveway so he could have it clear when he came home from work. Of course, I thanked him! I really like my neighbors, they're so great!

Wow you get free internet? That's great! Hopefully not a lot of people will share the free internet otherwise the nice guy might just go somewhere else or begin charging. It's a really nice gesture though. SOme won't even share just to feel superior about what they have. Well, I hope things continue to look up for you and that you'll make the most of your internet. :)

I dont think there´s enough people out my way to put too much pressure on his internet, but he does get the benefit of all the extra drinks we buy in his bar whilst we´re using it, so he does benefit from it too.
