It's awfully cold here and I'm trying not to turn up the thermostat past 66 so I bought some thermal undies. Penney's, where I had a gift card, had tops but no bottoms! So I bought a man's top because the ones in the women's department weren't my size. Went to Walmart, got women's bottoms and a top. So I get home and open them up--the men's top is as I remember them, nice and thick and warm. The women's top was paper thin! What, we don't need to be warm?! I'm wearing it anyway but there sure is a difference between men's and women's clothes! Are you wearing thermal underwear and keeping your thermostat down?

Thermal underwear! really no need in our country at all. So have no experience about type of underwear. Yes men's wear and women's wear are different always everywhere and it also true women's wear are paper thin. I think most of ultra-modern women's (specially girls)like these type of paper thin wear. Sorry to say so.

You're right. Unfortunately for those of us who are practical, most women prefer looks and fashion over the practical. When I bought a winter coat, I bought a men's coat because it was twice as warm and half the price of a woman's coat.

O yeah another hot point about women's wear. Though women's wear are worse in quality than men's wear but higher in price. Winter coat? Really good one for men is available within reasonable price but women's one no need to say you because you are more practical than me. Thanks for your sooth comment.

I would like to buy some thermal undies and socks especially. We have a lot of humidity since we live in an island surrounded by the sea. So having good socks which are thermal keep your feet warm on a cold day.

It really does feel colder when there's humidity! When I lived in the desert, 40 degrees was chilly but not unbearable. In the Midwest where I live now, that same temperature seeps right into my bones because of the humidity. Don't they sell them there? You can order them online and probably get some very good deals since the economy is so bad all over. I don't know if they ship to your part of the world but http://www.boscovs.com is a very cheap place to buy clothing and they have thermal underwear--some of it is even fleece lined!

I have a long sleeved ladies thermal top, but in truth it is no warmer than any other long sleeved T-shirt I own. I've never tried a guy's one. Perhaps that is the answer. Someone gave me a pair of men's long john underwear once because he'd bought them and found them uncomfortable. I have never worn anything quite so uncomfortable! I'm sure they weren't representative of all thermal 'bottoms', but they sort of put me off and I've not tried any again. I'll let you into a secret, I have a pair of little girl's red tights on under my jeans today. I was desperate for some warmth and couldn't find any tights so I hit the rag bag and found these ones aged 6! I've slit across the toes so that they're 'footless' for someone with longer legs, and I can just about squeeze my legs into them. They don't come up high enough around my hips of course, and are held up purely by dint of the fact that I have jeans on over the top. Oh, so attractive heeheee I can feel a discussion coming on here! Do excuse me telling that story again ....

I'm glad I gave you an idea! I often think of things I'd like to discuss while answering someone's discussion! The tights make sense, they say you should have a synthetic layer next to your skin because it holds the heat in and cotton over that absorbs what's lost. Men's thermal undies are thick and after a couple washings they are soft and comfortable. And, like I said, they're cheaper than the women's! But if you don't have thermals I guess any kind of synthetic undershirt would really help, topped by long-sleeved cotton. Stay warm!
