I know I have written very long posts some times, but if I kept this in only one post it would be way to big even for me LOL So here's some more things I remember from the article: "cut all the fat" ( use low fat or fat free products) The truth is our bodies do need fat. THe truth is also that we don't always make the wisest choices. Don't cut all the fat. Use common sense and high quality fat. Meaning don't abuse it and include healthy fats in your diet. Eat fish, nuts, avocado. Use olive oil wile cutting back on less healthy fats like butter, lard, fatty meats and dairy products. See... just common sense. Also don't believe everything you read. Low fat or fat free makes one feel less guilty eating certain things, but in reality it doesn't really mean better. Some low fat foods are filled with sugar for example ( now that won't help much more on loosing weight). Oh and another one: Dont' eat carbs! THere are countless diets going around where the trick is avoiding all carbs. Well, we need carbs. OUr body needs carbs. THey're important. Not something to cut our of our diets in the long term. And the idea is to get ourselves in a healthier lifestyle for the rest of our life, not only for a few weeks or months. What we need to do instead is to be smarter about carbs. make different choices. Cut down on refined grains and load up in whole grains. Pay attention to the things we buy and make good choices. The idea is not to cut carbs out, but start paying more attention to better carbs. One size does not fit all. Maybe some people will do well following those guidelines, but not everyone will. THe idea? Loosing weight is not just about going on a diet to loose a few pounds here and there. It's a healthy choice and a lifetime choice. It's about finding what works for us and keep us healthy. It's also about keeping in mind that we all are different. Don't follow diet advice just because it worked with someone else. It might not work with you. Be informed. Read. follow common sense. And don't forget that exercise is also a part of all this. THen again... common sense. Maybe you do well with strong cardio workouts 4 times a week. Then again, maybe you can't take that, but are ok with some less intense cardio once a week and some weight training . Or you can't take those but will be able to walk each day. All else fails : forget the dishwasher, do your dishes, vacuum those carpets, wash the bathtub, fold clothes, beat egg whites with a whisk instead of pressing the button on that cute electric gadget. All those burn calories LOL
