Come on guys... Where's all the GOOD discussions???

January 19, 2009 4:16am CST
Over the weekend I found loads of discussions to reply to! But this morning I just seem to be flitting from page to page answering virtually nothing! All the good ones or ones I can contribute to I have done! Surely someone has something interesting to say! I have been forced to post yet another naff discussion just to give me something to do! Does it drive you mad when you can't find anything to respond to? Do you just answer "rubbish" or do you log off and come back later?

Hey there mummyofthree I too am a mum of three by the way!! I am trying my best to start discussions but I am busy at the moment commenting to the responses I got from previous discussions and tryig to respond to my friends discussions. I am hoping to get some discussions started tonight when I get the time, I have got some in the pipeline so look out for them coming to your inbox soon!! You could always go to my profile and check some of my previouse GOOD discussions that you have missed!! I very rarely flit around looking for discussions as I have loads in my inbox ready to be responded to. As they come in from my friends, I delete the ones I know I am not going to respond and leave the others pending!!

Hi. I will do that! I've got 2 boys and a girl! The girl is the youngest and if she'd been my first i'd be "mummyofone"

Mine are 13, 7 and 4! The eldest lives with their dad so I got it a bit easier! I definately don't want anymore... time for my life to start. Am just getting used to having a bit of freedom again during school hours! And even if I did want another one it wouldn't happen as I don't have a sperm donor either!

It seems to go that way sometimes and it is what I have found too. For me I suppose you could say there is a "bonus" in that due to work and other committments I am not always able to get online every day. So when I come here I acn generally find some good discussions that I can add something to if I respond. It is for the reason that I am often now able to get online sometimes for a few days or weeks that I do not start discussions. I personally feel it is a bit rude and bad mannered to start discussions and then not get back to read the responses and maybe comment for a week or even more. If and when I run out of discussions, I go to my friends and see if they have any old ones I have not yet responded to and maybe add something to the overall discussion. Sometimes that does work and as few times it has actually give the discussion a new life, albiet only a temporary one. The other area I check out is those with no responses but I never seem to get the same success rate there. Maybe some, but not all of them, are there for a reason. If I cannot find anything that I want to respond to, I just leave myLot and do some other things. The only time it annoys me to do that is on a really hot day when there is not much else that can be done and today is one of those hot days. We did start out in the garden early because we knew it was going to be hot and managed to get just over 4 hours work done but that it is till later in the day when hopefully it will cool down.

Actually I do not expect that every tresponse I make will receive a comment. In fact I am very happy to see that at least some responses, regardless of who made them, have received a comment in any discussion. At least that way I kniow the topic starter is reading the responses unlike those where there is no comment at all and often no best response has been given. Yes at one stage we were all newbies and so I think it is good if we can help them get started, if there is a discussion that interests me that is.

I don't respond personally to every response but I always read them and post to some. That to me is half the fun. I always check out the no responses and newbies posts. After all we've all been there. But I do agree some have no responses for a very good reason

It could be worse....you could be talking to all robots. Yeah, I understand that, kind of have to find something that interests you. I guess my advice is answer to it even though you know nothing about what is going on. Take a stab, you might know more than you think you do.

Oh goodness. I get enough of those on the telephone! But I shan't get started on automated telephone answering things else I'll be here all day As for answering things I have no knowledge or interest in... I'd get very bored

Yes, but that would give you a chance to research something and thus take some time to be less bored. Unless you don't like doing a lot of research, whcih is fine, but I don't see a reason why it wouldn't help. I don't know, when all is boring, write a book? I am sure there is something you could put into one. I know for sure I could.

I know how you feel. I've been struggling as well with the discussions here in mylot and other sites. It seems as if there are no more good topics to respond to lately. Perhaps more and more people got tired of posting discussions and stuck on replying ~ just like me. What I usually do is just log off and come back later. But if I find some good topic, then I would post it here too. Happy mylotting!

Thanks for your responses. Hopefully things will pick up soon.

Hi even I too noticed today nomuch discussions here. I thought of starting some but not getting any new Idea. I usually log off when I dont found interesting discussions or I just keep reading few old discussions that are started by my friends. I never post into a discussion untill and unless I have something to share with my fellow mylotters. Happy myloting.
19 Jan 09
Thanks. Yeah it seems pointless making responses if you have nothing to share. I'm glad though it's not just me having trouble finding discussions to reply to!

Sometimes i just log off and come back on the next day. It's better than to stay on mylot just staring the monitor and never do anything or just read those rubbish posts and not bothered to give comments specially when the discussions have all similar thoughts and ideas. I just thinking my eletric bills lolz.

LOL! Good point on the electric bills!

I have noticed that from time to time. Usually i'll just come back later and see if there is anything different. It kind of sucks cause I like to come here and pass the time, but its hard when you can't find anything you really want to respond to.

I've been going back and forth for an whole hour and still cant find anything interesting to discuss about. Then i stumbled across this topic. You're a life saver! If not for this, i may not have a post all day. Then again, i cant blame anyone. I've been thinking my head off and cant find a proper and interesting discussion to type up. I wonder if all ideas have dried up in this world already. This is the kind of time you'll reconsider talking about your textbooks or about the boring old stock rates, or something even worse - yeah, its driving me crazy. Happy mylotting and may all the good discussions come your way.

Hm.. ya. I see a lot of how to earn online discussions and a few others that are similar to the older ones i've replied to before.. blah. I can't think of a topic to start a discussion either. Well thanks for starting this discussion lol. When i see nothing i can reply to i go off to another site. Not gonna waste my time finding.
19 Jan 09
You are welcome.... it really is hard thinking of a unique discussion to start that will catch the attention of other users. But at least now I have something to do! I can reply to you guys

I guess it all depends on your interests... if i dont find anything that I can contribute to then I start a discussion and go from there. I havent been here for long as I see you are over 1000 posts, and I have just gotten past 100. LOL ... but maybe if you dont find anything that hits an interest....then you need to start the discussion and get the ball rolling....LOL
