Do you obsess?

When you're on a diet do you obsess about the diet? Do you constantly track your weight loss progress and constantly think about ways to improve your progress?
I honestly had no intentions of going on a diet. I just wanted to make some simple changes, such as being a bit more active and eating a little healthier, and giving up the junk food so close to bed time. But after about a week of making these changes, suddenly I'm obsessing about weight loss.
I'm checking the scale daily, watching everything I eat, looking at fat and calorie content everytime I eat something. And of course I'm getting slightly depressed that the weight isn't coming off very quickly.
I keep trying to encourage myself, telling myself it will take time, and I'm doing good so far, but I need to not push myself so hard.
Yesterday I poured my daily cappuccino and peeked at the calorie and fat content, and realized there's 3 grams of fat per scoop. Typically I use 3 scoops a day. Then I said to myself "Well, I'm just going to have to give up my cappuccino". I think I'm being a bit obsessive!
The more I obsess over my weight loss progress, and the things I eat, the more likely I'm going to fail this diet and weight loss plan.
So now I'm going to make a concious effort not to obsess about it so much. I'm just going to stick to my 3 main goals: being more active, eating healthier, and staying away from snacks before bed. I'd also like to switch to diet soda to avoid all those calories during the day... lately I've been drinking diet soda just before bed, but having regular soda through out the day. If I can switch completely to diet, I'll avoid a ton of calories!

Being obsessed with my weight is something that I have had problems with since being young. When I was younger I counted every calorie that I ate and weighed myself all the time, I went through a stage where I stopped doing it when I was pregnant because of the health of the baby and I piled about 4 stone on, I tried to lose it after, could not and became withdrawn, would not go out anywhere for a long time.
Now I have slimmed down again and I am even worse!! Not calories now but fat content, I hardly eat any fat at all. In fact when I followed an eating plan with my local tv station I gained half a stone, that was the other week and I have now nearly lost it again because I came straight off it! I weigh myself every other day or every couple of days depending on whether I am on a fat or thin day. Its mad but just the way I am!!!

Okay, I have no idea what a stone is... we go by pounds here, lol. But from your pics you don't look the least bit overweight. But I know how it is.
After I had my first son I was on a candy bar kick, and must have gained 50 lbs. I lost it all quickly, and don't remember how, but when I was about 18 I was the best size I'd ever been in my life. I wore a size 10 and felt great. Then I met hubby and had the twins, and have been 50 lbs overweight ever since. Although most of the time it doesn't concern me much. I like to eat, and do it a lot.
But when I go on my diet I'm like you, I weigh myself daily and count every calorie. It's not very healthy.

Those sounds like really sensible goals to me, and far better than worrying about calories and fat content. Good luck with them! They're the sort of thing that will become habit, and help you keep healthier for years to come.
I rarely worry about anything I eat, let alone obsess about it. I'm one of those lucky people who doesn't really need to watch their weight and I live a pretty healthy lifestyle. I know I'm very lucky to be built this way!

Hi katsmeow
Weight loss without diet is possible.
Dieting only makes you to lose weight temporarily.
You should have a healthy balanced food and some regular exercise which can be as simple as a half an hour walk.
You need some lifestyle changes such as drinking water instead of soda, walking on staircase instead of using lift (elevator ),reducing junk foods and increasing
vegetables and fruits and so on.
You must always be calorie conscious as it is the excess calories that makes you to gain weight.
There is a link in my profile to my blog,"youcanbelean" where you will get easy tips to lose weight.
Best of luck.
