Is starting a business the key to success?

One of the things that I wonder about is whether starting a business is really a wise way to make money. I hear various figures about how many businesses fail during their first year, and I ask myself if that is really a smart investment or not. Heavens knows what the real figure of first year business failure is...but the rumors make it look bad. Of course, I have watched the restaurant business over the years, thanks to my former job experience. They come and go. Even if my heart was in the restaurant business (it is not), I would be leery of starting one just because of the number of restaurants that I have seen go under. So is starting a business necessary if you want to make money? Or is it just a money pit lurking under one's feet?

I am not sure, but I have my own company for a week (still a new born baby *laughs*). I am feeling great about it and I have been working hard on it. Hopefully I will get to be really successful with it *smiles*. Apart from diligence, I think determination, strategy and some luck would help determine the word "successful".

I hold the view that everyone has a diffrent concetp about success.Starting a business is really very difficult, for it needs your talents, courage, friendship, money. It is not suitable for everyone, for this society is completed.Someone have to work for a certain firm, someone have to stay at home and doing nothing, someone have to teach students at school .In this world, each of us has a diffrent task which will contribute to the society. The key to success is dependent on your attitude.

I just think it's the thought of owning your own business, being your own boss and at least giving it a try to see if it will work. You know, like the American Dream. At this day and age I think if you have something worthwhile, you should at least give it a shot because most companies are not paying what they use to. And, most of the time, you have double the amount of work. I don't know for sure, but if I had any type of backup money, I would do this in a heart-beat and at least try. I'm probably wrong, but I think if you have a good product, or excel in a particular field, go for it. I have a great idea, which is already around in different area's, but it's something I've wanted to do for years. I have no money to do it, or no backup source. It's a shame because I feel it would really work if just given the chance. It's killing me but what's a person to do? All I can do is work for someone else. Yuk, lol! Take care.
