Blood Donation!

I received an email this morning that a 16 year old with cancer is in dire need of blood platelets for his treatment. I went to donate after lunch. I would like to encourage aeveryone that is healthy to give blood. Do you do so? If not, why? If so, thanks!

I have never donated blood. I wanted too, if my blood is needed I will surely share it even I know I will be hurt through extraction. Knowing that my blood can save someone's life I will be very willing to share it.

I think you would be very surprised at how little it hurts to give blood, just one very small sting at the insertion of the needle!

I wish I could give blood. I tried a few years ago, and got nearly to the end of the questionaire. But in the interview, when asked if I had had an elevated blood sugar reading in the past 2 weeks, I had to answer, yes. That was all it took to be denied. Good topic for discussion.

One of the reasons I love to give blood is that I know there are so many reasons one can become disqualified, so while I am able it is a high priority for me. I began when I was 20, and a 24 year old boy on a baseball team I was coaching came down with leukemia!
