Hello out there to those of you whom I have not spoken to for a bit. Yes, for once I am writing to you off the cuff in my frigid room here in Queens, New York. Watching the Russian news. A lot is going on in the world in the last few months, I have been absent from MyLot for a very long time due to some life changing events that I will not get into at this moment. I simply wanted to say, no matter where we live, or who we are. No matter what our beliefs, our character, our religious beliefs, our personal prejudices, realize that here by New York Time, in less than 24 hours, we will be witness to one of the most influential, life changing realities to our world and to each other. That is all I had to say, I just wanted to get it out there before the day hits a new beginning of a day in History that anyone alive, be it a child or someone who has grown, we are witnessing history as a world, not just a nation. Kind Regards, Aingealicia

How is this life changing? I mean yes for Obama and his family it will be. They have lost their privacy and their normal way of life...but for the rest of us. Ya I will watch it on the news...but my life will go on as normal. I will still do things as I always have. So yes it is a first and yes it is one for the history books (but then all presidents are in the history books). But I do not see it as "life changing". Bush getting elected was not life changing for me...neither will Obama...but then I do not define myself or my life by who is our president.

Honestly, because capital hill does affect us. I can understand what you are saying, but I also see on a daily basis how a comment of "your life going on as normal" may be a different statement as of next year. That is the beauty of the 1st Amendment, freedom of speech. Aingealicia

I understand what you are saying. I do pay attention to what goes on in washington. I know the bills they pass will effect my life. But I do not see this as an earth shattering even. One president leave another comes in....it happens every four to eight years. My life will be no different today than tomorrow just by the fact that is Obama is sworn in. I really think people are making too big a deal out of this whole thing.

I'm sorry I didn't come across this discussion sooner! Anyway, late or not, I wanted to say that I agree, we have all witnessed history in the making. Am I just being a sentimental old fool or did anyone else find it so amazing and beautiful to see all those millions of people gathered together, people of all ages, from all walks of life, from every state in our nation and many nations of the world? The fact there wasn't a single arrest despite the crowd of probably two million people gives me hope and makes me feel so very proud. My grandkids are sure going to have a lot to tell THEIR grandkids one day, aren't they? Annie

Annie, Yeah, we both are being old and sentimental apparently. You know how I feel about Obama, sorry that won't change but even me being the cranky old nay sayer still can see how important, how precious, and what a gift this is that we got to see him placed into office. I did watch the swearing in and the travel to the White House. I also saw what happened to Kennedy and that Mr. Obama was the first by his side. How awesome was that? I do hope and pray that Mr. Obama can and will create a new begining for many. It is an amazing gift to hear my little ones talk about this new begining and what they see and their hopes on this new begining. I am just glad you saw the conversation and gave a wonderful responce. Thank you. Ainge

Yes, tomorrow is a new day, as is the day after tomorrow and the day after that, every day is a new day. I honestly am getting nausious over all the woopdie being made over the inaugeration. Ok,. so we elected another president, and oh my, he's bi racial.........*snore*........ Guess what, people will still have to get up tomorrow and go to work. People will still be poor, people will still be victims of crime, people will still die. Warm fuzzy feelings don't fix anything and life will do what it always does.
