Hi, I was wondering why sometimes the international country is called Netherlands in football and sometimes it's called Holland. Does the country have two names? Or is the Netherlands the general area region?
Thanks

Netherlands is the name of the country, Holland is a mistaken term normally made in the English language. Although most people will know where you are talking about if you say Holland, Holland is actually only a region within the Netherlands.

I understand now, thanks for clearing that up. Netherlands will be the name I use from now on.
