Laura Bush Killed a man...

This was quoted on Family Guy the other night (and a night previously, since it was a repeat).
They were having a little costume party, Peter Griffin was dressed as Laura Bush and Lois Griffin was dressed as "that guy she killed." The rest of the conversation?
Quagmire - That's right, she killed a man...
Peter - Yes, Laura Bush killed a man...
and then they jump into another random conversation.
I was watching this with my roommates and that got us all thinking, why would they say something like that? Hm, I wonder if it's true, I think I'll wikipedia that stuff tomorrow....and sure enough she DID kill a man!
A very unfortunate accident of course, she was involved in a car accident, she ran a stop sign, ran into another car and the driver of the other car died. His name was Michael Douglas, and NO not the actor.

How do you think this affected her? You certainly wouldn't assume she experienced this type of event.
I have to say though, there's a VERY handsome family picture of her, George and the kids.

She was 17 years old and no charges were filed. It was tragic but an accident. I think she probably punished herself a lot with the memory as she appears to be a very compassionate person. Why should anyone assume that she experienced this event. I am sure in most people lives they have experienced some kind of experience that is not tattooed on their forehead. It does not make me respect her any less.

I'm just stating that not many people would think that, think that about anyone really, so it comes to a bigger shock when you finally do hear about it.
I don't respect her less either, not in the slightest, actually, I got to thank her because one of the groups she works with donated a pick pallet jack to our center from the Susan B Komen group.

Why does it not surprise me something like that is on family guy...That is not a funny joke either. I am sure she didn't mean to kill any one even though she did run a stop sign!! Maybe she should learn how to drive, but I think that is the extent that family guy should have taken, not the entire thing saying she killed him. That is just wrong!!

It's unfortunate but true though, she did kill a man, by accident of course, but they didn't say she did it intentionally either, but they're also known for saying something and not give an explanation as well.
