One of the things about being unemployeed is the opportunity to do things you never thought you would do. I've cleaned houses, baby sat, taken in pets, tutored children, and just about anything else I could find to bring in a few dollars. I was always in the type of employment where lay off was pending. The pay was great while it lasted and I always got aheaad on the bills, but when the lay off came I had to use my head, have no pride and just do what I could. Don't let your pride get in the way of work you might be able to do. I always made it a game to be the very best I could be no matter what I did. Some people really got clean houses from me. Keep your sense of hummor, and remember what you do is not who you are. Hope this helps someone. Good luck to all.

I am unemployed myself. I live in a very small town and a lot of people are without jobs, I have been looking for something to do. I am searching by word of mouth the local newspaper, and they don't even have a help wanted section any more in the classified section. No one needs anyone around here to do anything. I have a friend whose daughter keeps people dogs, I can't even find that. Ain't no shame in my game I will clean house, dog sit, baby sit. If I can find the work. You are blessed to live in an area where you can find jobs.

Is there a newspaper delivery? Can you garden and raise Vegies? Is there any wealth in your town? Can you barter? I just can't think of anything else, maybe these will give you some ideas. Good Luck

Good speech pat. I never looked at it that way. You say that so good. But no I'm not out of work coz I work at home on my computer and my husband works outside the house of course. I haven't worked in at least 3 years coz I lost my job as a pre school teacher coz I was sick, then I met my husband and he bought me a computer. Before that day I had no clue what to do with a computer coz I never had one before, so I started fooling around with it until I started making money, which took about 3-4 months for me to actually start making something. I never been a lazy person, I had 2 jobs at one time and it was hard coz I was sick then but still had to work. But I never complained.

I was laid-off for three months, but am now back to work. I became a very frugal shopper and cook while I was laid off. Now that I'm back to work I am keeping up with thr frugal living and using the few extra bucks to pay off bills.

What about savings? Did you put money away for the times when you were laid off? It's good that you aren't too proud to do menial labor. I retired in 2007 before the economy went south and I have a good pension. As long as I don't get stupid with credit cards, I should be all right.
