Last time we will see him...

for a year...We just dropped my brother off for deployment. He will be heading oversees soon. Today was the last time we got to see him for a year. I would just like to ask for everyone's prayers for him as he goes to war. I know not everyone agrees with the war, and I'm not saying I do, but that doesn't mean that our brothers, fathers, husbands, wives, etc are not putting their lives on the line for our country and others. I saw moms kissing their newborns and small children goodbye, fathers hugging their babies goodbye, husbands and wives saying goodbye, and brothers, sisters, and friends saying goodbye. They are doing a noble thing regardless of what anyone thinks. They are standing up for all of our rights and others and risking their lives. They deserve our thoughts and prayers. Has anyone watched their loved ones deploy? How did you deal with it?

My father is in the Army and has made 3 trips overseas during his time in the military. I remember each one like it was yesterday. Seeing them leave and also the lucky ones who return, it is a very emotional time. I even remember when he left for the Desert Storm War even though I was still young, not completely sure what was going on or where they were sending my daddy. My mother was pregnant with my brother at the time and had to take care of my sister and I. Luckily we had family to help us through. I have to say that I am relieved to hear recently that my dad has decided to retire soon. This is also a sad time for him since he is proud of what he does and now he is feeling that he is letting down "the guys", the rest of his unit. Because of growing up with a military family I have a high respect for anyone who serves their country. I wish your brother a safe return home to his loved ones. Bless him for protecting our country, he is in my prayers.

I can offer you my thoughts and prayers as well. My boyfriend is deployed over in Iraq but I wasn't there when he was shipped off. In fact, I wasn't there for him at all until his leave. He and I never met until a few weeks ago as we got "together" online six months ago but we've known each other for over five years. I can just imagine the mood that day as the soldiers were kissing their babies and family good bye. As my boyfriend and his buddies were enjoying their leave, the thought occured to me that some of them were missing out on their children's school year. What a burden that must be for the ones left behind. When I was at the airport waiting for him, I saw several other soldiers get off the plane and the looks on their family's faces was so...wonderful. A little girl nearly came unglued as she and her mother jumped into her daddy's arms. I just can't wait for mine to be done with his deployment so he can get greeted by his friends and family...like he should. *Pleiades
