While many of Obama's other cabinet choices got confirmed today, Clintons has been put on hold. A Texas Senator has raised an objection over questions he has over Bill Clinton's charity foriegn contributions and a possible conflict for Hilary as Sec. of State. The senator said he is not trying to block her confirmation, he just wants more debate on the possibel conflict on interest situations that may come up due to Bill's charity. He thinks Bill should stop taking foriegn donations for his charity all together while Hilary is Sec. of State. Is that a reasonable request? Do you think this conflict of interst will hurt her chances of getting confirmed? Tell me what you think.

He does have a valid point. There is definitely a high potential of a conflict of interest, an embarrassing one at that. However, the senator himself has acknowledged that this objection is a mere formality he felt had to be made. This way he is also covering his own behind from his constituents who probably are not Hilary fans in the first place. Hilary will be confirmed by roll coll on Wednesday. Also something the senator fully expects to happen.
I think he just felt somebody had to speak up and lodge a formal complaint. The potential conflicts of interest should indeed by scrutinized. I'm not sure I complete trust the Obama team to have done all of that. But I doubt it will happen.

I do not think it is unreasonable for Bill to agree to not take foreign donations while Hilar is Sec. of State.
I agree it is just formality. She will be comfirmed....but it will be on record that people are worried about the conflict of interest.
