do you take any books on the first day of your school/college??

As a student, each one of us climb/go to a new class at the end of the year. After the final examinations get over, one has a fairly long vacations. These vacations fly so quickly. Maybe it is because we enjoy every moment of it, and we don't realize how the time passed by. But,when the vacations are about to end, we are reminded of the new class/year that is about to come. And the first day of our new year/class would have arrived. So, i would like to know if you take or had taken any books or notebooks right on the first day of your school or college life?? and is there any reason why you take them ? I personally when i was at school used to take a few notebooks (say 2-3) and 1-2 textbooks along. The reason being my parents used to tell me to take some of them just in case the teachers started teaching right at the first day. But now that i am in college, i never take any notebooks at all on the first day. I swing my hands and enter the classroom like a hero. My friends have also been like that. So, how were you when it came to the first day of your school and college ? were you the same way in both school and college or just like me?
