How old were you when you first started to smoke?

Who and what influenced you to do such? Are you hooked and having a hard time quitting? Or do you even intend to quit?

Oh, :-) did you try, though? Do you often regret you even did it the first time?

It wasn't so much "courage" It was more.. "been there, done that".

good that you didn't get so hooked. Are you totally out of it or you still do once in a while?

I was probably about 14. I have quit and started back several times. I guess I will be addicted to them until the day I die...

your resistance must be so strong....I salute you. I could die after one puff you know. I don't smoke and I may never want to. Are there time you wished you never smoked?

I started smoking when I was 16. I was always strongly against it, and thought it was a really dirty habit. Well I still think that but now I have been smoking for about 4 years. I started when I moved to England from America. Everybody there seemed to smoke, I was working one day and someone offered me one, and for some reason I said yes. Well I have been smoking ever since. I hope to quit eventually, although I have tried before and it was really hard. If I do not quit beforehand I would definitely quit before I had a child or the second I found out I was pregnant. Maybe I will get pregnant just so I will be forced to quit. Haha.

has it been chain-smoking already. On an average, how many sticks can you consume a day?

I was 14 years old and I started because in these days it was considered glamorous and cool. Now 45 years later I still smoke and see no reason to quit as I have normal breathing and clear lungs. I did quit for a year but started again. I get checked every 6 months. My doctor thinks I do not have the gene which causes smoke related diseases.

See, I kind of found a trend. Most people who answered this post started smoking at 13, or 14, or 15.....mostly around that age. How come? I'm just curious. See, I don't smoke so I can never tell. But when I was thirteen, I was still playing with dolls, and paper boats. Lol. Suddenly I think Im retarted. Lol

I was 15 years old. I hung out with my boyfriend at that time and his friends. They were all bad influences. Not only did I start smoking, I also started drinking, smoking mary jane and cutting class. My parents smoke too. When they found out that I was smoking in high school, they told me not to hide it from them so I didn't. I don't blame them for me getting addicted, but I think I would've gotten sick of hiding it and eventually gave up. I am now married to a wonderful man. He wants me to quit smoking, but would never force me to do it. I want to quit some day, but I have to be mentally ready for it. I'm afraid that I'm not there yet.

yup...these things take time. but i hope you don't do mary jane anymore. coz it's the worst kind. you can really start quitting now. don't put it off for tomorrow. but yah, you must be ready for it.good luck though.

I think if I'm not mistaken the first time i tried to smoke was when i was 13 years old, we were just trying it to for fun together with my cousin and the second I've tried smoking again was when I was in college i think I'm already 19 then it lasted for two one and a half years mainly due to peer pressure. I've only smoked because my friends are doing it most of the time when we do meet up. But after we graduated in college and move on separate ways I eventually quit it, I didn't have any hard time quitting because smoking is not really my thing, I have other vices though, I drink on occasional basis, but i just can't go on with smoking. ^-^
