In my opinion there were a few other players that deserved to notch this award. I do think that Italian Serie A Inter's player Zlatan Ibrahimovic really deserved to win the FIFA world player award. He helped Inter to win their Serie A title last season plus he was instrumental with his national team. Do you think that Manchester Utd's Portuguese Ronaldo deserved to win this award?© ronaldinu 2009 – the more people I meet – the more I love my dog.

I am a Man United fan, so I am expected to support C. Ronaldo, but I don't think your argument stands...
Ibrahimovici helped Inter win Serie A, but C. Ronaldo helped Man Utd win Premier League
Zlatan may have been instrumental for his national team, but Sweden isn't really the best of teams...
As for C. Ronaldo, he also won The Champions League with Man Utd...
For the quality of footbal played, maybe Messi would have worth the FIFA World Player Award more than C. Ronaldo.

haha.. I dun think Zlatan Ibrahimovic deserves to win it too.. If u are saying he helped inter milan to win their title and instrumental to national team, then how about ronaldo?? He helped Manchester united to win the league as well as the champions league, scoring 42 goals in the process being a winger and not a striker.. lol =D Does that put Zlatan to shame instead?? lol =D
Though ronaldo does not deserve to win, but lionel messi is a strong contender for that award and he should win it this year.. hehe

At the end of tbe day he had a very good season and his team won the CL trophy and the Premier League. So, if you are on the winning team you should win the award. No doubt there were a lot of great players but Man U season was better and so he got the award.

In that year, he deserved that award but may be not this year. He made incredible achievement such as scoring 42 goals in one season (he is a winger though), helping ManUtd to win European and English Premier title.
This year, I will think that Lionel Messi of Barcelona deserves the award :-).
