I miss many things. I know with the years and the brilliant minds that take us on journeys to new heights that we now have many gagets and gizmos that people some people never thought of. But someone did and produced it. What I miss from the past though are very differetn things. Like the smell of my mother in her favorite perfume she use to wear. The clothes she so carefully took out and matched to see if this or that suited her today. Everyday the ladies and guys got dressed as if they had someplace to go or was meeting someone. Even if they weren't. I use to try on my moms clothes and wear her shoes. I'm sure many young girls did this years ago. We had to use our imagination. A broom made a nice horse to run around on, lol. We took our skates and got the wheels of of them and put them on a board to roll around on. Now someone invented something like it, skate boards. We played house and doctor. Played on the playgrounds that were near every section of homes in a community. There were not the things for kids that that are today. We used our imagination for playing and stayed outside practically all day, unless it was time to go in and eat. You could go to the store and 1 cent would get you three pieces of penny candy. The candy bars of chocolate were twice as big as they are now and only cost five cents. A soda cost 15 but the bottle was glass and dependin gif you had the small one or the big one we paid a 5 cent or 10 cent deposit on the glass bottle. We would take bottles to keep from paying for the deposit. Or find a bunch of them here and there and take them to a store for the deposit so we could buy something. Six loaves of bread was a dollar, on sale hey we got more. Now don't get me wrong I do like many inventions. From the analog to digital world we now have today. More than 3 channels on tv to watch and they are in color. You know what else? We can afford more than one tv in the homes now. And we have phones that we can just walk around with. They use to be bulky old black things that had dials and we had to have party lines in some areas. If you could afford it you got a single line. I would think that not many even know what a party line is! We had to share a phone line with someone we didn't know. If the phone rang both families picked it up and if it was for you, well you stayed on the line. If it was for the other family...you hung up. How much do you want to bet that many times people didn't hang up, lol. Curiosity got the better of them and they listened in a bit. A camera now is not one that we have to put film in and wait for it to pop out and cahnge to the picture we took, or put a roll of film in, they are digital we can delete what doesn't turn out. We can take many many pictures at one time. This is wonderful. We have computers and we can carry them around. Use to be that only the government had computers and they took up the whole space of a huge room. Music is something we use to use reel to reel tapes to hear our music and record it to. They were huge, lol. Now we have tiny mp3 players and many other things. I want to thank you for sticking with me here, if you have. Now tell me what is it that you miss from your childhood? I do miss more and remember so much more too. What do you remember? Thank you so much for anyone that responds to this.

You are so welcome and thank you for your response. Such a thought of caring about your school and those days, it's nice that you enjoyed those times and grew from them even if it may have been away from your teaching. We all must follow the path we feel leading us in whatever direction it takes us. Enjoy mylot and welcome here. You will make more friends.

Oh, reminiscing....Yes I know what a party line is. How can I forget we have to argue all the time about whose turn is it to use the phone :) ...What I love about the old days is that the environment is better. I remember that I use to play in the mud and we do not have to be afraid of diseases like dengue or malaria. We even scoop some Daphnia from these mud holes and then go to lunch :)...I think the environment started getting dirty since we relied so much on plastics. I remember we use to buy candies and they would just wrap it with pasted papers from the directory pages. What I miss most is that life is not too stressful.

yes pulang, times were better the air was cleaner and the mud pies were oh so good along with the grass on our little dishes when playing house. Even the wide green onions and blackberries we could pick and eat right then as no pollution. It was much less stressful then, for us and many of the adults as well as times were easier for most. Thank you for responding and reminding me of more I miss.
