identify possible cherry tree

Have a tree in front of the house which appears to be a cherry tree; it has very dark red simple petal flowers. It came with the house but has never borne fruit. Could this be a cherry tree ? Ornamental only or fruit bearing? Leaves are also mostly reddish burgundy

I see you posted this five years ago and no one responded, for that I am sorry. I have a picture of what the leaves on a cherry tree look like, I wished I could have been helpful back then.
