President Obama issued two Executive Orders relating to Gitmo and the Detainees and he had to ask his Press Secretary if what he read was correct. Executive Orders have the force of Law and he should know what it in one before he signs them. Most EO are carefully thought out and discussed that the president know exactly what is in each one. I hope he is not just putting his name to documents that his supporters write for him. Do you think these Executive Orders are in the best interests of the country and our security.

they are not just going to let these ppl go with out anything happening they are in talks about what will be done to these ppl 2 wrongs do not make a right and Guantanamo bay is on US soil and it is not right for these ppl to be beaten and missed treated like I said 2 wrongs dont make a right before Guantanamo bay is closed they will have these question answered they are not just going to let the detainees go to just walk free I am sure that President Obama will ensure our safety in this matter Guantanamo Bay has been known to have harsh interrogation practices which again 2 wrongs do not make a right I back President Obama all the way I do think it is a good choice and I feel that our security will only get better but It not only on president Obama to do so but it will take a part of all of us to make everything better "Obama said he was signaling that the U.S. would confront global violence without sacrificing our values and our ideals" I do think it is a good choice!

Bobmnu, Gitmo and the Guantanamo issues are not new. On the hand, however, my concern has always been why indeed the US government finds it necessary to open prisons, detain people and/or have military bases in foreign lands.

Guantanamo bay is American land according to agreements signed in 1903. That means it falls under our law and our jurisdiction so it's not as if it's in the middle of Havanna. The reason it's not in the continental US is to keep it safe from sleepers in the US who may attack it to release the terrorists. I know the safety of our nation may not be important to some, but it is to me and it was to Bush. I don't want these terrorists where they can potentially escape into our country.

What is going to happen to these people when they are put in a US Prison? Do you think they are safer in a US Prison or at Gitmo?

It does not make a difference! They are US prisoners! Why should another nation have to worry about US personal affairs? Let the US deal with its prisoners in the US! And let me take this opportunity to add that Fidel Castro is a very BIG MAN for honoring whatever deal his nation had with the US government, which had done nothing over the years but to demonize the man! Hope you recovery speedily, Mr. Fidel Castro, and God be with you!

I wonder why he felt the need to consult his legal counsel when answering questions about his own executive order. Didn't he already make sure everything was legal before he wrote and signed it?

No, I don't think they are in America's best interest. I think they are giving a victory to the terrorists.

Certainly he's had months to discuss this with advisors such as Colin Powell and both Powell and Obama have made it clear that they felt Gitmo should close.

He thinks it should be closed but he doesn't know what to do with the prisoners. The man is full of ideas but no plan. Spend money and maybe it will kick start the economy. Lets give everyone health care and the money will come from somewhere. Raise taxes to get more money for the government, except when you raise taxes people lose jobs and business close. Everything he does has a political motive that will benefit him. He thinks about himself first, his party second and the country third.

Wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute....... This was an executive order in other words, an order that came from the execitive . HOW can he not know what the order contained? "I hope he is not just putting his name to documents that his supporters write for him." This would be not only iresponsable, it would be dereliction of duty. He had better not be doing this.

Maybe he signed it thinking he was just voting "present".

The problem was that the order was only half written. On the one for gitmo, there was nothing in the order to say what was to happen to the prisoners. Obama had to ask his laywer what was going to be done with the prisoners and was told that it was being worked on for another executive order. How can he sign something that is notcomplete. This all should have been thought through before it was signed. I am beginning to think that the president is just a puppet that follows orders from someone in the back ground. Someday this person will be found out.

As a professional who deals with the law and policies and writes numerous reports in a week, I have two other professionals who review my work before it goes out to the public. If you understand how the brain works and you know that after reading and writing numerous documents, it is more than prudent, it is necessary to have your documents reviewed and checked. My husband also has his legal documents proofed before he sends them out. I see nothing wrong with this - he is not writing grocery lists.

I am sure that you could answer questions about the reports you write or put your name to.

People are laughing over this..Isn't he supposed to be a lawyer? But wait! We've haven't seen his college results or papers, so who knows? Oh well! After all, Obama supporters had been saying that experience didn't matter, any way. And this is the end result-buffoonery!!
