God-Blessed-Darn- Stupid Pill bottles! Pills went flying everywhere!

I'd like to know what dang idiot out there designed these stupid pill bottle caps, you know they are hard enough to open up , and I even have the kind for those of us
that have Arthritis you know what I mean, the kind that are supposed to be "EASY" to open up??
Well I had pills flying all over the place earlier this evening when I went to open
my pill bottle to take my acid-reflux pills before I eat, them dang blasted pills
went flying in all sorts of directions, and I get 90/per month and lets just say
the bottle was at least half full!! GGGRRR!!!
My Poor aching back too, from bending over and over and over and picking up
pill after pill, its a good thing my Grand Mother always said that little dirt
never hurt any of us cause I'm here to tell ya, I just picked up all the pills
and if there is a bit of dirt on them when I take it oh well...LOL!!! YUMMY!!!
Did you ever try to open a bottle and have the blasted thing literally just launch
itself into the air and wind up all over the floor??
just think about it, at least half of 90 pills would be what say 45 of them little suckers running around?? it makes for a BIG OLD MESS...
I didn't know whether to laugh or to cry cause I had to bend over and pick them all up? Now if I were healthy that wouldn't be any big deal but with my disc's the way they are, lets just say I need a back treatment now and I can't wait for the doctor to open up his office in the morning and when he says

LOL! Hey Katlady: Yeah that's for sure, a baby could open the darn things easier than I can any more;
Yeah just my cat here to watch me pick them up while she batted them around for me;
NOT HELPFUL!
I'm so glad my Cat loves me for all the stupid things I do daily..LOL! You know?

I'm pretty sure when the stinking bottle says childproof it means only a child can open it. I know that's what I do. Whenever I couldn't get a bottle open, I called my 7 year old daughter. She had it open in a second. Childproof, sure.
Do you ever use those pill separators? The ones that have Mon, Tues, Wed. etc.? I use those to separate my variety of pills. Arthritis sucks. Like we don't have enough problems with the other things coming with being over 40?
I've played pick up with small pills too. And the dogs have to help, cause it might taste good! That's a mess!

Hi Snowcat: Yeah sometimes I wish I had a child here to help me out with such things;
I do have one of those pill organizer do dads and use them, haven't filled up
my weeks worth of meds yet this week; Hence me fighting the darn bottle at suppertime yesterday... I've made a huge mess with those silly day/week pill sorter things too, those aren't real safe either when one drops it on the floor if you know what I mean...LOL! Thankfully I only had two days of pills open up when it hit the floor and not the whole week's worth that was a year or so ago;
Me and pills just don't get along anymore!!

This is from a year ago. He's rather ugly now, but he's still all mine. His temperament suits me. My hubby named him Snowball, since when he came home he was supposed to be his. But he's so much like a cat in all the things he does, I stole him. He really is as ornery as he looks, if not more so.
He's helped me cope with depression and the arthritis. He makes me laugh every day. When I'm not trying to save the pills from him. Brat!

Darn, Darn, Darn. Here is an idea, the next time you have to open the bottle, do it over the bed, that way it would be easier to scoop them up if they spilled. I think we all have had something like this happen. You have to find them and keep them medicine is too costly plus they won't give you anymore. I take OTC prilosec, I was pushing one of the pills out, yep it went flying. I still haven't found it yet. If and when I do, I will keep it, they cost alot. I am hoping the cats don't find it.

Yeah that OTC prilosec is very expensive I used to take it when they did it as a prescription but now I take this over stuff...

I think that every prescription that is filled should have the option of having a cap that is easily opened by those who have problems with opening jars, lids, etc. They should ask if you'd like this before filling the prescription. Another rant I have is the bottles for over the counter meds. I had a client ask me to open a bottle of Aleve for her. The bottle was really too difficult for her to manage. You had so squeeze the tabs while turning the cap. This is problematic for a 90-year old even if they don't have arthritis! You need strength in your hands to accomplish such a task!

HI Butterfly: Yes I agree those darn things they sell over the counter are the worst and I understand that they don't want younger kids getting into them but GEEZZ!
Its hard for any of us to get into some of them;
Yeah I'm only 47 well going on 48 in April OMG!! ((GASP))! That sounds so weird to me, anyway I have precious little strength in my hands these days, in fact I have to run very very hot water over them several times a day just so I can type;
needless to say I don't have the prettiest skin either on my hands...oh well!
I have to run hot water over them of a morning too before I do my morning "business"
so that I can use them to wipe you know? Very sad! I hate to think what I'll
be like in a few more years...I don't want to think about it tell you the truth;

Lordy me I take so many darn pills a day and then to have them go flying everywhere
it was a mess, I forgot to mention that my crazy cat Screamer thought I had just
given her a bunch of toys to play with on the floor, I was trying to shoo her away too, I'm sure she'll find one or two somewhere along the way?? what a mess!

I'm so sorry that you have arthritis problems dawnald and can see what frustrations you are suffering. I hope though, that you managed to pick them all up and sust them all off. I think that we had the same grandmother as this is exactly what my grandmother used to say to us. I don't have nay answer to these bottles of pills but perhaps someone will respond and give you an idea to try. Take care and blessings

boy tell me about it, I too can't open those bottles and when I finally do the pills fall all over the floor, my back kills me all the time and I hurt like heck to have to pick them up. I hear you hon.

rather just be kicked and get the pain over with you know?
and why is it those of us who have so many aches and pains, always seem to do silly
stupid things ( like dropping stuff) all the time, to cause ourselves even more
pain and misery?? Tis Terrible!

I hate getting the "ADULT PROOF" bottles. They're supposed to be child proof, but even my mini Dachshunds can open them....but not me!!! I have been known to be so desperate that I have taken a hammer to the bottle. I have gotten into the habit of checking the bottle before it's even bagged at the pharmacy so that if there is one of those flamin lids on it they can change it immediately.
I would make your doctor eat the lid! They think up these things to frustrate the daylights out of people like us.

Yeah I've had a few of those kinds of lids too in the past where I've taken
knives and just about anything to them to open them up; Frustrating as hell isn't it?
I have so many that when I pick my stuff up at the pharmacy I'm more concerned with
did I get the ones I need?? did they run it through properly to where I'm not
charged the full price? I've been slowly switching my meds from stupid walmart
to Walgreens' that we have here now...WALMART PHARMACY here has gone to hell!!
really really stupid people work in mine here, I mean STUPID PEOPLE! (g)!

Hey jan! I have done that myself so don't feel bad! And with
my bad knees that isn't fun at all! First, I can't get the
damn bottle open and then they the lid pops off and the
pills are all over the floor! I can't tell you how many times
this has happened to me! And each time I get the prescriptions
filled I keep forgetting to tell them not to put those damn
caps on that I can't open! There are no kids in my house and
I don't need those hard to open lids! I don't when I will
ever learn to open them more carefully! I hope you feel better
too! I really hate having to take so many damn pills every
single day!

Morning Opal: I guess we've all probably done this a time or two I know I have but never had it happen with a bottle so full you know?? YIKES!! The way they just
slowly arched up into the "air" too it was like I needed to be scoring for a great dive or something ok 10 ITS A 10 SCORE for that high flying dive LOL!
I hate all caps of any kind, the usual kinds, the supposed easy to open kind, like I Have ppffttt!!!
And oh yeah my poor knees too last night hurt me and my leg muscles were screaming in pain saying ( what the hell) kind of exercise was that?? LOL!!
Owee my body !!!!!!!!
I hate it when I do stupid things that cause me even more pain!

Awwwww.......Jan......... I feel so badly for you, but, at the same time it does sound like a scene from a sitcom, it really does! LOL! I have a bad back too and what I usually do is sit on the floor and pick up things off the floor, especially if it's a lot of little things. It saves my back from straining.
I have had that happen once or twice in my life. Some of those bottle caps you can't even figure out, you know!! It's very frustrating!
When taking those pills in the future just wipe each one off that you take out of the bottle so you don't eat the dust and dirt on them, sweetie!

Ok, now that I've stopped laughing hysterically at your post I can reply. I'm not laughing at what happened to you just the way you told the story was freakin' hilarious!
Here's what I hate about pill bottles...They are "Child proof" yet my 6 year old routinely brings me her bottle of vitimans with the lid already off asking for her "gummies." I swear sometimes I can't get the lid off myself, but my daughter...oh, she's an expert.

Yeah those kids , they somehow manage to open all the stuff they aren't supposed to be able to open and we as adults can't open the ( child proof crap) what's up
