Here is what former Vice President D1ck Cheney told the Weekly Standard the day after leaving office:
"Scooter Libby is one of the most capable and honorable men I've ever known. He’s been an outstanding public servant throughout his career. He was the victim of a serious miscarriage of justice, and I strongly believe that he deserved a presidential pardon. Obviously, I disagree with President Bush’s decision."

Do you think Cheney is being sincere or does he perhaps have an ulterior motive for wishing Libby had been pardoned?

I have a hard time believing the sincerity of any politician. I am not sure what the ultimate motive can be but I bet there is one there someplace

I wonder who will pardon Cheney and Bush for all of the lies and coverups they did to get us into a war that can't be won in Iraq? Has a president ever been incarcerated, I don't believe so, but there could be a chance it would happen. Most people realized that Bush wasn't smart enough to figure things out for himself, Cheney and Rumsfeld pulled all of the strings Carl Rove had a lot of input also.

Oh lord it sounds like lil cheney is at it again. I feel the undercurrent of another reason to not agree with the man he has been in bed with for far to long.

I don't think anyone that is middle of the road or completely left believes a word that comes out of that man's mouth. I know that there are a lot of conservatives that will hang on his and Bush's every word but well these are also the people that have screamed that we need to support and respect everything the president does without question until of course there is a party change.

Honestly we dont know. If we knew the whole story of what happed then we might be able to make a decision.
I can say Bush seemed to be less inclined to pardon people than past presidents. He pardoned and commuted less sentences then Clinton or Bush Sr. Heck the two border guards deserved a full pardon but only got a commute...if Bush did not feel they qualified for a full pardon then who does?

Here's what John Dean, former White House Counsel under Richard Nixon, had to say about Bush, and I'm paraphrasing here: Dean said Bush is a rather "cold fellow", that he takes care of his family and close friends but that "compassionate conservative" doesn't fit him at all.

I have no idea whether he should pardon him or not. I think Bush did the good thing in pardoning those two border agents, but as for Libby, I am not sure. I do not think of any ulterior motives other than it may be that he felt that Libby may have been acting on the nation's best interest and that it was all right to lie to protect America. Since the CIA is involved in spying and espionage, I suppose that right and wrong seem to get blurred. It could also be that since Libby is an old man, that Cheney sort of felt sorry for him and did not realize that Libby may have been a dangerous old man.
As it is I am not the kind to speculate on whether Libby should be released or not. It could well be that Libby is suffering from health problems, like he may have cancer, had a stroke, had a heart attack, or has diabetes and he does not have long to live.

I'm not sure how it could have been in the nation's best interest to lie about who outed a CIA agent. I think the ulterior motive just may be that he fears one day Libby will "sing" and tell things about Cheney that the D1ck doesn't want to get out or that even could put him behind bars. Libby can't be "released" since he's never served a day in prison because Bush commuted his sentence before he could. Also, Bush didn't pardon the border patrol agents but merely commuted their sentences as well.

I'll give you a quarter if you can tell us what was Libby's crime, annie.

Exactly what "truth" and what "liberal agenda" are you talking about? You're earlier comment had nothing whatsoever to do with the topic of this discussion, which is a violation of myLot's TOS. You didn't say if you agreed or disagreed with either Bush or Cheney. I just got your typical, classless type of response. I guess it takes one to know one...lol!
