Potato dumpling pairings

What would you pair up Potato Dumplings with? Someone said they were making potato dumplings and that sounded so good. I just know what to pair it up with. I've read about pairing it with Sauerbraten but I don't know that I'd like it + many of the recipies involve wine (wich I don't keep on hand) or various vinegar maranaides. Perhaps just a nice plain jane beef or pork roast? What do you think?
