If you were given $400 a month, strictly for groceries...just food. You can't buy anything cleaners, diapers, cat food, anything that can't be consumed by a human being. What would you buy? Where would go? Would you seriously stock up on things? I would stock up on the things that could last a while: can goods, boxes, frozen stuff. Then the next month, I'd get the stuff that won't last a while that I like: fruits, vegetables, etc. I'd probably got to Aldi, Wal-Mart, Kroger and/or Meijer to get this stuff. Actually, other than Great Scott, there really isn't anywhere else that we can get food like this.

I would check my area stores for sales and use coupons. I would make sure I had enough meat, veggies, fruit, cereal to last the month. With the remainder I would stock up on non perishables. I would do this every month so if I didn't have the $400 I would still have food to last for a few months.

I would also join a thing call The Coupon Game. It's this website that will tell you a time frame of when certain sales will be coming up. This way you can coincide your coupons with the sales, so you can have better savings.

I would go to either Wal-mart or Fareway and stock up on canned goods as well. I would go to Fareway for all my meat and have the freezer full of steak, turkey, chicken, fish, and pork. I would load my pantry full of soups and veggies and fruits as well as the packages of mac and cheese and noodle dishes. I would get some hamburger helper, frozen pizzas, some frozen bread so I could have fresh bread every day. We go through lots of cereal so of course I would buy lots of that as well as lots of gallons of milk. And I would get pop for me since I love it. And coffee for my bf since that is his drink.

$400 would not last me a month. I spend half that per week, and that's pretty much all on food. But if I had $400 extra per month, then I'd stock up stuff like meat. I'd probably go to the wholesale club and buy all the meat that is one sale, plus some that isn't, and put it all in my freezer. Then I could save myself $50 a week without having to buy meat.

I would just go to a big supermarket and buy lots of food that would last and just regular food, fruits and vegetables. And I have a baby so $400 is not much she drinks about 10 cans of formula a month, so there goes most of the money. lol
