My little cousin returned to school a bit confused yesterday. They had English test and she had only one mistake but she is not exactly sure if this is a mistake.I want to ask you is it right to say 'My THE OTHER shoe' or it`s better to say 'My OTHER shoe'.For me the form with THE sounds kinda...wrong.But it maybe just sounds like that so I decided to ask you about it.By the way her English teacher says THE OTHER is better but it just sounds weird.Thank you in advance.Happy MyLotting!

The teacher is wrong. I'm taking grammar right now in college and I can just see my professor shudder and then start lecturing. It's either "My other shoe" or "The other shoe" it can not have both. I don't understand why the teacher would say that that is the correct answer. I think everyone would agree that "My the other shoe" doesn't sound right and doesn't make sense.

Thank you for your response! This post is the final reason for me to go and ask her why she thinks that "my the other shoe" is the right answer.Happy MyLotting!

the correct way to say it would be "My other shoe." Maybe the teacher means "The other shoe," but both of those phrases work depending on the rest of the sentence. "My the other shoe" does not make any sense.

Thank you for your response! The teacher didn`t meant to say "the other shoe" so I am still on the opinion that the teacher is wrong.Happy MyLotting!

HI. I am not a english teacher. My thought would be on this is My other shoe would be the right one. The other one My the other shoe just does not seem right at all, or does it make any sense.
