Okay I needed a hook here to ask something and to make a play on what Steve Martin use to say......Let's Get Frugal! If I was to be really frugal, I was wondering what the formula was in figuring out how much it takes to make a meal per serving? I've seen the price per serving used in magazines but not sure how it's done. Anyone have any idea? DCMerkle

I agree with OreoCookie, the price is going to be different for different people, and even different for the same person at different times. I don't know if there's a particular formula, but you have to take into account food bought on sales, or in season or home grown, etc. I'm not sure it would be worth my time to figure exactly how much a meal costs, but if you know the price of the main ingredients you can estimate.

Peavey, I think that if I just use the formula for the simple, easy meals, I'll be able to get a general idea of price per serving. DCMerkle
