How often and far do you let your child ride his/her bycicle?

Depending on their ages, parents have certain limits letting their children use their bycicles. In many cases children are prone to lend their bycicles to friends and sometimes things may occur. On the other hand, parents want to know how far their child will go considering the fact that there are so many people out there that might hurt a child or the child can have a bike accident himself/herself and get injured. What are your guidelines?

My kid is too lazy to ride a bike, so I don't have this kind of thing to worry about. All she wants to do is eat, sleep, and watch tv....

I am in a town that has a large number of child molesters. They settle here after they get out of prison. My grandson is nearly 7. He is never out of our sight. Sorry, that is the society we live in. He goes riding with his Dad. Period.
