Lately, I've been working on some projects at home in my spare time. Especially since I am out of work and having such a hard time finding work. Since I've been home a lot, I have taught myself how to sew and I know how to crochet. So my question is this: Since I don't have funds to post my crafts on sites, are there any sites beside the following site that I can use to sell my projects? Etsy Ebay Craig's List I have sold some of my projects on Craig's list, but I really don't get as many hits as I would like. And I really would like to take my crafts to a new level. So any help would be greatly appreciate, I thank you all in advance for your help.

I have sold a few things on ioffer.com, its like ebay but doesn't have a listing fee and is not as regulated as ebay, so you might give it a try. Also if you do specific crafts you might look on ebays or ioffer's want list to see if anyone wants a specific craft done. That way you would have a buyer before you made it. I have done that with cross stitching before.

Only ok because I am a slow stitcher. I end up spending more time making gifts for family or friends then I do to sell.

LOL, yeah I know how that goes.. For the holidays, I made a Greek flag for a good friend of mine. And I made my mom a calico print lap fleece lap blanket with matching rice pad. I've tried cross stitching, it's too time consuming and it takes a lot of work to put into details. Good job on being able to do that. Thumbs up!

If you do a website like Etsy or whatever they do have a spot on BabyCenter called mom & pop shop http://community.babycenter.com/groups/a235/mom_pop_shop? but note you can only post your goods on this portion of Baby Center only. I know it's low tech but could you make up a flyer and put them at a grocery store that allows for such postings? My neighbors father fixes up mowers & snow blowers he gets at rummages and resells them that way. HTH & GL!

You could even just show an example of various patterns you make frequently & offer custom colors for baby showers, weddings ect.

Oh and maybe find out if there's a regional forum you can ask about maybe also doing some craft fairs in fall & see what a table would run. Or maybe sell them at your rummage or flea market?

Hi Snuggle, I never thought about making fliers and posting them in supermarkets. In fact, I actually do that when I promote sales for a friend's Avon business. Thanks for the idea!

If I were you I wouldn't sell in ebay, there are too many fees and in my opinion is not worth it. Of course I'm not very into it. Opening a shop in Etsy it's less expensive, you could try dawanda.com too. It's like etsy but for europeans (americans can participate too)

gigglez79- I would consider giving Etsy.com a shot, for the following reason.... if you are trying to sell your crafts, having an online site gives you an air of professionalism. You won't come across as "just some crafter" who made a couple of things and is trying to peddle them. At craft shows, I've been asked many, many times if I'm online, even before the customer showed any interest in buying something...an online site almost says, yes, it's mine, I made it and here's where you can find me. Also check out the local papers for smaller craft shows in your area. My local paper has something called a "datebook" and it lists all kinds of local activities and I find many craft shows to consider from the paper. These shows usually have reasonable fees (I've found shows where the table fee was just $15...and did very well at the show) If you have a Paypal account, seriously consider Etsy. They have a promotional forum, where you can promote your listings and as previously mentioned, you can list 4 items and not receive a bill until one of them sell. Items remain in your shop for 4 months. If you would like a few tips about maximizing your listings, promoting on Etsy (and off) drop me a friend request and I'll pm you how to get the most bang for your listings and explain why it works best, along with a few great ways to promote your items off of the Etsy site...and they are all free to do!

Hi Creation, Wow, thank you for being so informative. I really do need to get things together and look into Etsy. Any help I can get is great, and would love to learn how to sell things online as well. So I will look you up and we can go from there. Thanks again!

It only costs .20 to list an item on etsy and a small percentage after it sells. They don't even bill you until your fees are a minimum of $1, so you can list 4 things for a total of .80 and not have to pay anything until something sells, or you list something else. Give it a shot. The listing stays up for a think 4 months. You've got nothing to lose.

Yes, etsy is great. Even if you don't sell anything right away, you don't lose out on anything. It's a listing site, not an auction, so I guess that's why it stays longer. I listed 4 items once and sold one just before the listings expired, then last month listed one item and it sold a short time later. I don't have anything listed now, but I should. I have a couple of scarves and dishcloths done.

seems as though a lot of people uses Etsy. I didn't know it stays up there that long. You're right, there really isn't anything to lose, but a lot to gain. Thanks

I am going to be working on my crafts this summer before I go back to school in September. I love making crafts and homemade gifts for my family. I am also going to look for craft fairs and see if I can sell my items there. Maybe you can ask a friend to go half with you on a table and that will save some money. I am glad you have taught yourself how to sew and crochet, I have tried both of these and have had no luck at all. I will keep you posted on where I sell and how successful I am.

I know what you are going through. I was unemployed for over 6 months. The only suggestion I have is to make fliers and take them to different establishment. I recently brought a car magnet for my car from Vista Print. I paid I think was $10.00, and I have that on my car. You might want to check them out. They are always having sale.

I put together many Native American Crafts and put some of my crafts in consignment shops. have also sold some in crafts fairs but most of them get sold at pow wows but you could ;maybe do a home party, invite other people that you think are interested in your works and treat them to some cookies and drinks. Maybe some one has another talent such as singing or playing a musical instrument that you could put to use .When the weather gets better you could maybe have a yard sale.

Home parties are nice. I remember when I had a Tupperware party a few years ago, it went pretty good. I'll try the consignment shop as well, since a friend of mine knows someone that runs one. Hopefully I'll have some luck? Thanks for the tips.

I will be making my Christmas ornaments next week and will hope to set up a store online soon. I make ornamnets out of felt and also out of dough. I will also be making soap and hope to sell that as well. I love making crafts and giving out homemade gifts as opposed to store bought gifts. This year I will also be making my niece and nephews (they are triplets and five years old) personlized books. The story will reflect on their interests. It should be fun.
