Kids love ice cream. Some parents acknowledge this might interfere with their health, others think it is okay. Do you let them do this every day?

If I had kids, I would definitely not allow them to eat ice cream everyday. First off, I'd try to ensure that my kids don't get hooked on it; I would only buy a tub of ice cream for the freezer maybe once or twice a month, max. However I think my whole family has a pretty high metabolism, like I eat ice cream maybe like once a week, and I never feel any negative side effects. But yeah, ice cream is a dairy product and when you combine that fat with all that sugar, you can have a nutritionists nightmare. So I would let my kids eat some ice cream, but in moderation ; certainly not everyday.

There are a lot of negative health issues in our family history, so I have to base my answer on that fact. If there wasn't, I don't think there would be anything wrong with my kids eating ice cream everyday. Heck, I'd like to eat ice cream everyday! LOL

of course not. If i had children, and when i do have them, i won't allow them to binge on ice cream. They are my children and i wouldn't want them to suffer from the effects like cough and the likes. But i would reward them with ice cream time and again. =)

Every day? No way. Maybe every other day. No probably not even that. Ice cream is one of the fattiest foods out there, at least the normal kind - the healthier ice creams aren't nearly as bad. And I would think having ice cream every day would ruin the special-ness of it. If it's only given once a week, they'd enjoy it a lot more and see it as more of a treat, rather than just a daily food.

I think anything can be ok in moderation. That's the big thing. Ice cream is ok for kids in my opinion, just maybe not everyday. I would like to keep some things a treat for my daughter. If she's had a great day with us then at the end of the night we will give her a tiny bit of ice cream with some fruit mixed in. It's not a daily thing though.

Of course not, too much ice cream can also cause problem in my children's health. Besides having cold or cough, children nowadays are also suffering from diabetes. I'll let them eat in moderation.

hello nannyinholiday yeap, my kids both love ice cream, but to answer your question about do i let them eat ice cream everyday? no i do not. lol i guess that my boys have ice cream like twice a week and they love it in the summer time when the ice cream truck comes around and my hubby or myself gives them money to get them an ice cream with. but i always have popsicles (i hope that i spelt that correctly) in the freezer in case that i run out of ice cream. take care and have a beautiful evening.

When my kids were small I only allowed ice cream as a treat for things. Now I would probably allow it more often than then simply because they have so many sugar free and low fat options available. But I still wouldn't allow them to eat it every day. I think that would teach some un healthy eating habits.

Before our daughter was born my husband and I would sit down with our son a little after dinner every night and we would all have a scoop of ice cream together as a treat. It allowed us all to sit down and enjoy each others company. Some nights we would watch a veggietale and some nights maybe just talk. But it was fun and I miss it. My son never got addicted he never had too much and he never became over weight. He has no health problems so I don't feel we did anything wrong. It was something we as a family could look forward too every night. We get to do it every now and then after our daughter was born but that's because we are too busy now to keep it in our routine. And even then my son is not having withdraws and freaking out about not having ice cream every night. I find that there is no reason to freak out about something like this if you as a parent can keep it in control. The media hypes things up so bad and no matter what you try to treat your kids with every day someone is going to tell you it's bad. Just do what you think will work for your kids.

I am a mother and while I feel that the negative health benifits are not really a major issue, especially for very young children, I do not let them eat ice cream everyday. For one ice cream has become fairly expensive and it would cost a lot to let them eat it every day. Also I do feel that they would get in the habit and that could cause problems later if it became impossible to have everyday. Also in all honesty my children currently don't like ice cream very much due to the extreme cold. I actually look forward to them enjoying it more when they get a little older so the family can all have some together and it be more enjoyable for everyone.
