How do you feel about vegetarians?

I'm not one, but I have many friends who are. At one point they were actually vegan(where you don't eat meat or anything that comes from an animal, say milk.) They caved on that because it was too hard, which I can imagine! Are you a vegetarian? What are your reasons? Is it to be healthy, or you don't like how animals are treated? If you're not a vegetarian, what do you think of them?

I am not one, though I respect others decisions to be. I think it is terrible what we do to animals. I have tried that path a few times, though later in life, I found that plants were sacred to me as well. That is my personal reason with not being a vegitarian, I feel terrible for the plants as well too... though I am not ready to die. So, I must eat. I do eat less meat then most people do, and maybe someday I will be able to make the jump, or make it fully and find a way to live off of just vitamins, taking solice that not as much harm is being done...

Yeah, I know... I am not sure that is something anyone can do... but that is something that got to me a lot once I started thinking about meat. My mind takes things to far sometimes. I have made a somewhat peace for the moment with my predicament...

Wow I've never heard of anyone not wanting to eat plants either! That is something I could never do. Good luck anyways!

I've done everything from vegan to vegetarian, to raw food diet plans. I tend to eat more vegetarian, and when I eat eggs or dairy, it's organic if possible. Free-range meats would be my choice if I were to eat meat, but that is so difficult to find when eating out. When I do eat meat, I try to bring free range meat into my own home on purpose, because the meats available at the grocery store are often loaded with hormones and anitobiotics. Eating meat takes me some doing though, especially since I have to put out of mind that I am munching down on bloody muscle flesh. I guess it's a state of mind, one I came by after years of trying go eat vegetarian. I prefer vegetarian because animal sourcs of protein are harder on the kidneys and that's important if you are diabetic with kidney issues. But I do use dairy and eggs for codiments, just not main dishes.

That's interesting :) Good luck with it all! My family owns beef cattle, so it would be difficult of me to be vegetarian haha, but at least I know what's in my meat.

Yes, it's important to know what's in your meat. I grew up on a ranch, cattle ranch and grew up eating lots of beef. I still like beef, and prefer it to other red meats, but I don't eat a lot of it anymore, for health reasons mostly. But as I said, buying meat that hasn't been loaded with hormones and antibiotics would be important to me, if I were eating beef every day.

I'm not a vegetarian, but I have had MANY friends who are. I can completely understand their decision, and I don't try to push my own meat loving'ness on to them - nor do they try to push their opposition to meat on to me. It's always been a kind of "you do things your way and I do things mine" kind of relationship, which is fine by me.

Same! I have lots of friends who are vegetarian, some even vegan! but it doesn't change anything in our friendship. You do what you want and I'll do what I want :)
