Have you gotten yourself in trouble for making eye contact?

Eye Contact - I bet this two aren't fighting, they're about to kiss.

Some people are just too narrow-minded that an eye contact means someone wants trouble. Have you gotten into this kind of situation where the one you "accidentally" had eye contact with confronted you because of it?

Yes, but for women (at least) it's fairly easy to diffuse any anger over it. When asked, "Are you staring at me?", the simple answer is, "Yes! I was admiring your necklace/earrings/hairdo (or whatever). If it happens to be a man, I try something like, "Yes! I love your shirt (or whatever), and I was going to ask where you got it so I can get my husband one." Doing that, any anger turns into pleasure because you've given a compliment.

My avatar is Tukay. I got her in 1999 when all the hype was Y2K (Tukay)...lol. By the way, Tukay says that since I am talking about her, she wants to see a picture of Moochie.

I see this is the "if looks could kill" page. :-D Nope, I've never had any trouble with that because I'm the kind of person who can never look at someone straight in the eye whether I'm lying or not. It's really just a habit. But I don't like it when people look at me head to foot. It makes me feel so ugly. Like I'm being sized up or whatever. time to call Lisa....Lol

no, but my hubby made eye contact with this girl once and he got himself into a whole lot of trouble with me..but to answer your question no one has ever confronted me about making eye contact with them, and i'm not the type of person to back down if they did.

Well, I had never experienced it because I don't usually look to a person something not good especially if I don't know them.. My boyfriend had experienced it already and because of it, it come out into a fight.. I just hate to remember that moment.. Honestly, I really hate those people who keep on looking at me especially guys.. When every time they look at me I always raised my one eyebrow with them so that they stop looking at me.. Same thing will girls also.. I just hate those people who keep on staring at me..

Hey modstar! Isn't that a sad thing? That you actually have to watch who you are looking at? I live in NY so I can tell you that making eye contact with the wrong person can actually get you killed! And unfortuately I am not kidding! You have alot of strange and angry people who are natuarally always looking for a fight and a simple "look" can give them just what they need to start something! I am always very careful and aware of my surroundings! There are alot of sick people who roam the streets and take the busses these days and it pays to always be alert!

Hello modstar! So far, I never have troubled because of eye contact. Well, I am not the kind either that will look at the person. Everytime I go out, I never looked at strangers. I pretended I don't see them.

hmmm yes. i am a singer and of course when we sing we interact we have facial expression, we smile and we look at people eye to eye. and someetimes we get in trouble for that. sometimes guys approach us thingking that we have a crush on them, sometimes girls approach us and demanding to stay away from their man, and sometimes gay approach us to stay away from their toy. lol. it is not easy to go through this almost everyday. as of now i a mostly sing alone on a piano bar or a lounge so it is okay. people just go there to mind their own business. it was more complicated when i was singing in a band and on bars.

I don't remember ever having a confrontation dealing with direct eye contact. I had an incident one time when I was shopping in a clothing store. I was pressed for time and looking around for a clock. I found one up on the wall but I didn't have my glasses on so I couldn't see it very well. I squinted my eyes and could see it a little better. I turned back to the rack of clothes I was looking through when this woman came over and asked me (rather angrily) why I was giving her dirty looks. I had no idea what she was talking about until I asked her if she had been standing over there (I pointed toward where the clock was) and she said yes. I told her that I wasn't looking at her at all but the clock just over her head and had to squint to see it because I didn't have my glasses on. She apologized for being so rude and we had a good laugh about it.

No, I never gotten in trouble for making eye contact. I think it is unpolite to stare at someone. I would not want people staring at me but they do it anyway. The only time I give eye contact is when I am talking to someone.

a very long story to tell modstar and that was so big deal to me because when my husband came home and our neighbor had an eye contact to me...he thought that we had an unfair..so,disgusting that night.... i felt bad and we argued of what happened...i'm not that kind of woman..he don't trust me even now just because of what happened before...but that was accidentally when we had an eye contact.

I have been asked my jealous girlfriends/wives if I was staring at their man....NO, I have one of my own and I have him almost broken in and trained to understand my many and varied moods and the subtle nuances of each, why would I want to "check out" some nubie? I always politely say no I was just people watching or daydreaming or whatever. I have only had one get very defensive and I finally told her that if she was that worried then if I wanted him I could have taken him that she needed to lighten up and relax. Ok, yea I know I am mouthy it's a curse and a blessing...lucky for me my hubby is a big guy so my mouth can runaway with itself and haven't really had to suffer any repercussions.
