Does anyone know why Apple has to come out with new iPod models every nine months? Every time i get an iPod, I have to get a new one just to keep up with technology. And they're not very cheap either.

Apple comes out with new models every nine months because of people who want to keep up with technology, or at least, with trends. If you want to keep up with technology, I don't think you should keep buying them, since as someone stated before, there's not really all that much difference in the object itself, aside from greater storage capacity, and design. Depending on the functions (of your iPod) you use, there are probably many cheaper alternatives.

I think they do that so that people will keep buying the next models to keep up with all the new stuff that they can accomplish. I am on my second Ipod and the only reason I got this one is because I needed more memory for my music! I had a 2 GB nano and that just wasn't cutting it. I now have the 80GB Classic and don't see another Ipod in my future for quite some time. It works perfectly and I don't feel the need to keep buying the same thing over and over again. Unless it breaks, this is my Ipod and I am quite content with it.

And that's why Apple has so much money. They keep making new models with very minor improvements, or a new feature that won't get much use. A lot of the time it's just a change in the way the ipod looks. The only real update they've made to ipods in the last few years is the iphone and ipod touch (which is essentially just an iphone with the phone taken out). People feel the need to keep buying the newest model because they want to be up to date, but it's kind of a waste of money...

Well, technology develops but even if there are no innovations, companies do change some random little stuff to make sure they will receive cash inflow now and then...
