I read on internet that an influential newspaper will replace its paper publication with online digital form. Will this be followed by other newspapers? I very much doubt. Your opinion, and why?

What ever it may be there is some uniqueness for the normal news papers. There are some interested people still they will not read the news online but they would like to read the news papers on traditional papers. Both have different feeling. Software people like me when we work some where around the world we will read online newspapers to know our country happening everyday. There also there are e-papers which is a photocopy of the news paper have more readers to read online. So the traditional papers won't be destroyed as much as fast as we expect.

there will always some good value with hard copies which soft copies do not have. i have long discovered that it is easier to read items in hard copy. reading newspapers through the internet will mean that we will be reading those news items in soft copies already. when doing so, there might be some items which we will misread. so, this will take a longer time reading as, we will make sure that we read it right. this is what's so good about those printed materials. this is why, in offices where reports are vital, corrections are always incorporated in hard copies and never in soft copies.

I think it is so possible. In fact I think the newspaper doesn't sell well as the past. It is like that the digital camera will replace the film camera. Today more and more people like to read the news via the net because it is faster and costless. And you will find unlimited information online. I love China

No, I do not think, it is possible to replace newspaper with internet. Both are different to my mind. I get my newspaper daily. I do not enjoy watching news on TV or internet. Moroever, most of the TV News channels serve you everything other than NEWS. I can read my newspaper at my leisure and as per my convenience, however, for watching TV news or on net, I'll have sit in front of my TV or the net. Reading newspapers is an old habit of mine and I just cannot be without my newspapers. If any day my hawker does not turn up, I go to the market to buy my copy of the newspaper. I get two newspapers everyday one English and one Hindi and read some of news in the morning, before I leave for my office and rest of the important news I try to scroll through in the evening, when I return from my office. On Sundays, I get three newspapers and love reading their supplments and magzines sections. I do not like watching TV programme, such as daily soaps etc., instead love to read something to enhance my knowledge and to give some mental exercise to my brain. I believe, when I read newspaper, it not only gives me a kind of mental stimulation and satisfaction but also keeps me updated about the latest happenings around the city, nation and the world.

We've seen many newspapers either go under or go online in our state in recent years, so this is a tough question to answer without saying that I believe this will happen with all newspapers eventually. Our local newspaper used to be thick and heavy...now it's thinner than the thickness of most catalogs. It's so sad because I *love* reading a newspaper versus reading news online.

Unfortunately, I do believe that over time most, if not all, newspapers will go to internet form only. I personally hate it that everything is going on the internet. For one, I think there is nothing better than to get to sit or lie down and hold a book, newspaper, etc. to read. I am afraid that printed word will end up going away altogether after a few more years. Also, what so many companies do not seem to take account of is that not everyone has access to the internet at home, and in some cases, not at all. I myself have been there too many times. It is frustrating when everytime you want to see something or do something you are told to do it online and you do not have internet. I am hoping that people will come to see the value of the printed word again.

I really hope newspapers won't disappear as a race because I like the morning ritual of reading newspaper while having my coffee or tea. I also find it more comfortable to read newspapers, magazines and other papers than from computer screen.
