My husband was just laid off!

we really do not know what to do now. He filed for unemployment and has called about another truck driving job. but who knows. His job he had was delivering catepiller stuff and when we heard they were laying off thousands he called his job and they said yes that he was laid off with about 50 other drivers. This sucks. right when rent is due. he has one more check coming though but it is not for a lot because he had not been driving for a while.
any advice???

You don't say where you live sweetpeasmom but I know that Caterpollar is centred mostly in the Peopria, Illinois area. If you are in that area there are other places that he might try. One of them is ADM. Hopefully his unemployment will come through soon. Since unemployment is high I think he can draw that for 26 weeks. Good luck.

we are in central indiana, but the trucking company he drove for had mainly caterpillar. He would go from peoria to somewhere in texas all of the time. just back and forth for 2 weeks and then be home for 2-3 days and go out again. The trucking company is trying to get more things set up so hope he is only out for a little while. but heck even a few days will sink us.

I am sorry to hear this. I hope unemployment goes through. He can check craigslist for other truck jobs. They sometimes have some on there. Good luck.
