I prefer plastic bags because they are sturdier when compared to paper bags. They do not get soiled such as the paper bags. However I have grown more aware about environmental issues and though I do prefer plastic bags I am making more use of paper ones. Do you prefer plastic or paper bags? I prefer the plastic ones too, since paper bags tend to break easily, however it is true that we have to care for our enviroment. Plastic harms too much the enviroment ...

I do agree with you. paper bags tend to tear very easily but they are much more beneficial to the environment than the plastic bags.

Hi ronaldinu! I prefer plastic! I have enough problems when I have to carry heavy bags home. I usually have a long walk from the stores so I can't take a chance that the bags will break on the way home. Even the plastic ones break! I know that the paper are better for the environment, but they would never make it home especially in the bad weather! At least with the plastic bags they get used again for garbage!

Hi Opal..you should think about using those recyclable cloth bags..I use them now...they are made of cloth so they won't break and only cost about 99ยข each..since the handles are long enough I can swing the bag on my shoulder like a shoulder bag

Either one for me. But i DO LIKE PAPER MORE SO. i USE THEM IN MY WASTE BASKETS AS A LINER IS WHY. They are both recyleable now days so it doesn't matter really as I recycle all the time. The more dogs I know, the more I love my beagle BUSTER! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I prefer to paper bags much more. Perhaps it is much more environmental than plastic bags. But no matter what, we shall try to recycle things so that it's the best solution. I love China

Well actualy none of them. I use reusable bags made out of cloth. I have lots of them probably over 30 by now all sizes and shapes and colours it is so convinient with them. If I forget them the only other option is the store bags and usually they give plastic bags.

I prefer the plastic only because they have handles on them and we have to pack our groceries up a steep hill and the more bags that can be taken up at once the less trips up and down the hill is made. They are as you said also sturdier then a paper bag. Milk and other products can get a bag wet and with paper it just falls apart and you can lose stuff that way. I reuse the plastic bags though for everything. I even use them in the bathroom and for the little trash cans about the house.

We use the green cloth eco-bags for all our shopping and for the perishables we have insulated ones. We have been using them for several years now and always keep some of them in each of the vehicles. That way if we are out shopping, the bags are always there so we do not need to think about putting the in the car when we are going out. The co-operative store in the town in grew up had a system for as far back as I can remember where they gave points if people had their own bags, sp we always had our own cloth bags. My mother used to make them when we were kids and so I just continued using them when I married. When I met my partner, she also used cloth bags because she felt they were better for the environment. A number of people we know use plastic bags and then when the shopping is put away, they use the plastic bags for their rubbish. That is not really a concern for us as we try to recycle as much of the waste as we can, so surprisingly enough there is not a lot which goes into our garbage bins. Very few places here seem to use paper bags anymore although a couple of years ago we came across a smallish town were they did. The supermarket gave the customes a choice of plastioc bags, paper bags or cardboard boxes.

I prefer re-usable canvas ones. you use them til they fall apart, repair them as much as they'll take, then re-use the fabric, or compost them.

Hi Ronald. In our place plastic bags are banned by government for the sake of environment. But people are using plastic bag even there is a ban for the same. Most of the people prefer to use plastic bags for convenience. Plastic bags can give a protection to the things inside from water. Paper bags are good for the environment but it will easily damaged by water. I prefer to use plastic bags, I know the ban is there but paper bags are not available.

Neither actually. I bought green bags for our groceries. I like those much better. They certainly make for a healthier environment.

A few of the seaside villages near where I live have banned plastic bags, as there has been so much damage to beaches and marine life. If you go to these shops, they put your things in a cardboard box - or you just carry them if it's only one or two items. When I was growing up we had thick, brown paper bags from the supermarket, and it seemed to work well. If you bought meat or fish, it was well wrapped in newspaper, and that seemed fine until you were able to get it home. I much prefer paper - I think there's far too much packaging on most products these days.

I have heard that you can get bugs in your house from paper bags. I prefer plastic and thats the main reason why. Problem is they are not good for the fish and the environment, so where will our alternaives be?

paper bags are rare around here. i prefere the reusable ones made by fabric. When we forget to bring them we use plastic. If we do we reuse them for our garbage.

I read a study once that said paper bags were as hard on the environment as plastic. It was referring into the damage done in the making of paper bags. I've taken to using reusable cloth bags and I'm sure these are better in the long run.

I prefer plastic too. Mainly because I reuse them for my own trash and I also use them to clean out Mija's bathroom (litter box). Think about this: You get criticized for using plastic bags because the plastic isn't really helping the environment, but, at the same time, if you use paper bags doesn't that mean the cutting down of more trees???? Just goes to prove that no matter what you do you're always going to displease someone. The more people I meet the more I love my cat :) Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija

hi friend, plastic bags are being banned by various countries all over the world, I prefer plastic strictly because of the convenience. I use a couple of the cloth reusable ones and I have a tote that I put in the back to put things in. The place where I shop for groceries offers the plastic bags for free each trying to discourage the use of them so I usually just take my canvas ones and my tote and use them instead of the bags. It helps the environment . though we all should use recyclable things
