My cat is really something as some of you might know already from some of the other topics Iv made about him, but this is just another thing that I find strange about my baby, he drools just a tiny bit when he's puring but only when he purrs and no other time, I wounder why that is and dose your cat do this too?

I have no idea why some cats do that. I have had several in my lifetime that did it too.

I think it has to do with nursing/suckling as a kitten. Usually a kitten will nurse and use its paws to knead mom and it helps produce milk. Cats associate this with being content and since they now longer nurse this salivating still continues when they are content. Some do it more than others some not at all. Of my seven cats only one does this.

That really makes sense. I never would have thought of that. Thanks.

We've got a cat that does that. We got her (and her sister) from the age of two and a half weeks, when they were abandoned in our neighborhood. Since we in effect raised them, they both have the habit of nuzzling you when they are friendly. The sister suckles you, but this one, whenever she is in a really friendly mood will sit with you purring, until a drop of drool begins to hang from her chin. She is beginning to do it less now - she's almost nine - but for a long time, that drop of drool belonged with a purring session.

I have a cat that I found in the road. She is around a year old now. Tiny little thing. But the drool pours and I mean pours out when you love on her. You will get wet all over. I thought maybe she had got hit by a car. She has scar tissue on one eye also. Nice to know my cat is normal. I guess.

it might mean something about his kitten-hood if he had been taken from his mother too young or he just drools... they sometimes do that
