PTC sites and upgrades...

Since I have only started this recently (under a mnth)... I have signed up for a few PTC sites, that everyone here talks about are the good ones and not scams and I am building on to more sites every couple days... so far I am just standard and have no referrals of course... granted I am still new I know this. Is it worth upgrading, do you really get more ads to click? Do you get paid to talk on the forums there as well? I am sorry if I sound stupid but if I dont ask I wont know... right? Thank you for any information you can give me.
