Well I was sitting down thinking about the lot and when I was typing something I signed it mel at first without me noticing. LOL!! Since my user name in Bellaofchaos I usually sign bella. But that got me to thinking about in life how many different names we go by when I was in school people called me shorty, firecracker, missy, very few deared to call me missyjean, MJ, I have had people call me short stuff, and some not so nice names, i have been called an M n M twin since there were two missy's me and the other one. LOL But just recently I have had a good friend start calling me Mel. I have never had that before so at first it was weird but now I can't get it out of my head!! So how many nicknames have you been through and what was the hardest one to get out of your head? What did you like the most? what didn't you like and why?

hmm long list here.. i started out as cynthia.. and a few still insist on calling me this, cyndie or just simply Cyn. with the name change.. i became Kathrynn, Kat, an ocaisional Kate or Katey, and even rarer Kitty Kat. with the beginning of my chat/gaming addictions i transformed into Tessa, Tess, Tessy, Enorah, Norah, and just plain E. relatively "new" (over the last 7 or 8 years) theres been some who call me jade. the weirdest i think was when i went to summercamp at about age 10.. and everyone called me Morris o.O stemming from the first day i showed up there wearing a Morris the cat tshirt, and it just stuck for the entire summer.

I've got quite a long list actually, and most of them have stories attached to em. J or Jay: because for some reason people constantly call me every name that starts with a J other than my actual name (Justin), so I just started introducing myself as Jay and the name stuck. JJ: due to my first and one of my last names starting with a J. Jack was spawned from an internet name I use, and has now stuck as my official alias. Justyface: a name my grandma (and on a rare occasion my mom) calls me. Sports Fan and Stretch: two names my dad calls me. Tim: Got this one at a job when one of my managers thought my name was Tim. Because it wasn't a J name, I never corrected him. Was quite funny when my coworker/friend corrected him and he blinked, looked at me and asked "Why didn't you ever correct me?" "Because it didn't start with a J", and we all lost it. Was an overnight job, we were all crazy anyways, and most of us sleep deprived, so dumb stuff like that would have us laughing hard for hours. (For example, one great story was the time same friend told me a joke during our lunch break and I was barely awake Friend: "How do you fit an elephant through the front door of Safeway?" Me: "I dunno, how?" Friend: "Take the S out of 'Safe' and the F out of 'way'" Me: ~long pause and deep thought, blank face~ "Say that again." Friend: "Take the S out of 'Safe' and the F out of 'way'" Me: ~longer pause, deeper thought~ "Dude, there's no F in 'way'" ~another pause, then sudden realization of the joke~. At which point we all lost it and we had fits of giggles and chuckles the rest of the night.)

I love it when I'm sleep deprived and I get someone telling me jokes and I fall in fits of laughter. :) I have had that happen so many times .. I have gone to work with only an hour of sleep before and at that point I'm the one that does the funny stuff. LOL.. I like the nick names. But you will always be jack to me hun

the only nickname i have ever had is Sneaky. my mother was 5 months pregnant before she knew it. so she called me sneaky. Everyone called me that as a child, but only a few people call me that now that i am older. i call my daughter Muffin because she is so sweet.

Honestly I am one of few people that never really had nicknames much. I guess because my first name is amy and you can't get much shorter and simpler. Some kids in school called me other things at times, but just because they were mad because I always got really good grades. My Grandmother actually gave me the nickname of cricket when I was 9. It only lasted a couple of years of infrequent use. She named me that because I had to spend about 30 minutes waiting for my bus and would chase the crickets trying to catch them.

I am hoping my son will walk away without a nickname. His name is Marcus. When he was born there was a week and a half when his paternal grandpa and I fought because he wanted to call Marcus "Humphrey". I won (probably because he got in trouble with his wife!). Now he calls him Marky every now and again, but not often enough that I think it will stick. We did call Marcus "our little burrito" during the time when he was swaddled, but that didn't last long!

Aidenofthetower, I think Marcus will do just fine even if he walks away with a nickname.. Nicknames are almost like a right of passage and more often than not are terms of endearment. I love the nicknames that my family has given me. Some are a little off the wall but you know all in all it's a good thing.

I still remember a nickname in my secondary school which I could not get out until I got out of the secondary school. I am not going to mention it here since I dread even typing it. LOL I guess my character changed completely since I was a young school kid.

My name is Danelle (pronounced Dan-yell for some odd reason). I was called Dani by most of my family and Sissy Bug by my brothers and sometimes my mom. My dad often called me Dan which drove me crazy because he had two sons! Other nicknames really didn't stick.

I think Dani is cute and I think your Dad was just trying to make you feel loved.. Men and fathers sometimes just don't get it.

Well, that brings up my boyfriend's nickname and his for me... I call him Bunny (long story, and it was something se xual)... and he calls me his Flava. He said because he knows I am the right person for him, etc etc. I like our nicknames. Since my name is Bethany, most people just call me Beth. I don't like being called Bethy, which some people tend to think is cute. Also, if someone only knows me as Beth, most often they assume my name is ELizabeth, but it's not.

I've had too many nicknames to count! From Gizmo to Reenie to Mom (i'm not actually a mom...) and all sorts of others, my friends and family have gotten creative over the years. My favorite, though, and the reason for my username is "The Wee One" - as the youngest of three, my eldest sister and her husband began calling me that back when I actually was the "wee-est!" I am no longer the littlest in size, but the name has stuck nonetheless!

My nicknames are all based on my real name. I've been called as Leny (elementary), Jel (high school - college), "Bata" (the nickname that is being used by my older sister), "Bibi" (baby in english, being used by my mother and some relatives), Anjel (my internet nickname), Chammy (the one that is being used by my dearest love), Mocha Cake (being used by my close friends in college). But I have not yet gain any insulting nicknames so far. All of the nicks I got, they all have meanings and special reasons. As of course, the one I liked most is "Chammy", the one that is given to me by my dearest love. :)

When i was a little girl my parents asked me my name and in my cute little toddler voice i said "cago" (for carol) I got called cago most of my life after that. My dad also called me sister. In school i got some weird names A moose (last name was Amos) I hated that last name. Since i started on the internet in 1997 I have had the nickname princess. so most people i know call me princess or "snow"
