all of us who are none native speakers of the English language are not born with a natural facility for the language. having a different mother tongue also means that it can be naturally challenging for us to learn the various rules of the English language. my only advice to you is to read, read, read and read some more. i became fairly good in English after years of frequent reading. now, i am an English web content writer. you can start off with popular books that are easy to understand. from time to time get a hold of literary classics as well so you can improve your vocabulary. have a dictionary close to you in case you need help with the words. it will also help if you kept a conversation buddy. ask someone to constantly speak to you in English

that is true that in the Philippines most teachers speak in English and we all regularly speak in English. It was a bit challenging for me as a kid though because i also had to learn four other languages and dialects. I lived up in the north where people spoke tagalog and then we transferred south where people spoke bisaya. i also had to study waray and bantayan bisaya as well because of my parents' places of origin. so it was tough for me juggling all those languages and trying to excel in English. since you are Chinese i would really recommend having a conversation buddy or even an online chat buddy. you can even look for someone in your country who is also learning English and you can talk to each other regularly. actually in my country, this is what the teachers force us to do. not all of us are perfect English speakers and writers and to make sure that we become really good, the teachers ask us to talk to each other in English all day.

This is common problem with those people who are not English speakers. But we found that such problem could be solved with hard work and continues practice. Practice make a person perfect. we should not hesitate to speak, read, write and think in English. We need an atmosphere a society for this purpose. If we do not get such society to help us speaking the English, then we should do it by ourselves own. Crammer is basic need to learn a language. But many people do not care to follow this rule. They say enough to express their views in a way that other could under stand. I am one of them and my English is a little better than others.

Hi doris. I am an online English instructor in the Philippines. I always advice my students to listen to English musics. Memorizing one song will help you. Try to watch English programs and movies too because you can learn about how they pronounce words. Read English magazines. Reading will help you learn new words. And try to have many English speaking friends. Enjoy mylotting!

Hi there!;)I'm not that good in English too. What I actually do is watch a lot of English movies to practice my comprehension and I also read a lot of English books. Since most of the companies prefer applicants to be fluent in English now a days, I also practice in front of the mirror.hahaha.now you know my secret!;)you should try it too.
