When shopping, have you ever accidentally forgot to pay for something?

It's been several times I have accidentally forgot to pay for goods I've picked at the shopping center. The funny thing is that I have gone through alarm walls with a attached anti stealing button to a pants and alarm didn't go off. Of course, next day I went back to the shop and paid for pants, explaining the situation. I have to admit that maybe I wouldn't bring the pants back to the shop if the safety button wouldn't attached to them... lol

Oh, I do this so often, I think I am a subconscious kleptomaniac! Just yeasterday, I purchased several items, walked out and unloaded the cart.. Only to find I'd forgotten to pay for one toy that I had bought for my baby. I hurried back in and paid for it, apologizing profusely, LOL!

Yeah one time I was holding a bunch of stuff for a buddy at Walmart and had a bunch of stuff to move around in my hands in line and I accidentally left a bag of candy in my sweat shirt and I didnt find it until I got home.

I hate to admit it, but yes I have...Twice. The first time was when my oldest was an infant and my husband and I had put the items we were going to buy in the stroller's basket. My son started getting restless which in turn made me nervous, so when we reached the checkout I hurriedly put the items up on the counter. I thought I had put everything up on there, so I didn't bother to double check the basket. When my husband, son, and I got home with our things that we bought I noticed some things were missing. We wondered where they had gone and finally found them in the stroller's basket. As the items were small I had forgotten all about them up until that point. Although the items didn't cost very much I didn't go back to the store because I just couldn't face the embarrassment of it all. The other time happened a few years ago when both of my kids were with me. I had gone though the self check out at Wal-Mart. I wasn't too familiar with it at the time and felt a little rushed with having 2 little kids with me. In my haste I had missed one item...a bra. By the time I noticed it I was back at my car with my kids putting the bags in the trunk. Again I decided not to go back in the store as I just felt too embarrassed about the whole thing. Karma did come back and get me though. About a year or 2 ago I was at another Wal-Mart and the cashier charged me for something I didn't even get. I hadn't caught the mistake until after I got home.

I have done that because I either had the item under my arms or in my helmet and just forgot it was there until I got to the parking lot. It is not like the cashier even noticed. I once returned an item to pay for it, and it cost just $1.99 and the cashier waved me off...goes to show how much money they make that 1.99 don't even dent their books.

I sure did, it was light bulbs and I had put them in the baby's bag so that they were protected. I drove home and found them when I unloaded the bag, then I drove back and paid for them. 30 miles round trip. The store people told me it was alright I could have waited until the next time I was in the store. But I've always remembered this and never did it again.

it has happened a few times - usually a small item like a comb under my purse or coat. I find it when putting things in the car and I will either go back and buy it or just take it back to the curtesy counter and set it there. I never take it home with me.

I can remember one time. My daughter was about 18 months old. And we had gone to the dollar store with her uncle. I had a cart full of things. I paid for them and was out in the parking lot. We got in the car, and were driving away when I noticed my daughter had one of those chubby books in her hands.

]Hi Lindery. Yeah a couple of times. Just recently I went to DSB Kiosk and bought a SODUKO. I forgot that I also picked up a mint bubble gum. I noticed it when I was on the bus already. The following day I went back to that store and paid for it. The cashier laughed and was amazed that I was been honest to go back and pay for the gum. Though it costs little but still the thought that I have the responsibility to pay for it then I should do something to correct my error.

Well, one day I went shopping and bought three shirts, I paid for them all and went outside, as I passed out the door the alarm switched on and the security ran to me. I was embarrased and told him that "I have paid for everything, I got inside again at the shop and showed the recipt and the bag to the cashier. Then the cashier realized that she forgot to take out the saftey button from one of the shirts which I paid for it. She appoliged herself several times and I ran outside the shop a bit embarassed since all people inside where staring at me.

No this has never happened to me because i am a very cautious shopper .But one of my friends has this habit of picking up of things without paying for them.Once i was with her and we went to a stationery shop .She picked up a pen and held it in her hand.We bought some more pens and other stationery items and paid for them. When she came out of the shop she said to me that I picked up a pen and did not pay for it and the shopkeeper did not notice it. I think it is bad habit and if one gets caught then how humiliating and embarrassed he will feel.

Hey, yeah I have walked off stuff too. But i always go back and pay for them. My daughter's car seat usually blocks stuff if I put them in the top tray of the cart, and then when I get to the car I have to turn around and go back in. honesty is best, but if its like gum or candy, i dont bother going in. thats just silly little stuff.

I have never had this experience with clothes, but at the grocery this happens often. I would get a bottle of water, open it to get a drink. And by the time we get to the checkout counter I would have forgotten about the water! ^-^

I have done it a few times, mainly when shopping with the pushchair. I used to have a basket and then when I filled that up would put items on the pushchair as well, I would then unload the basket and forget the stuff under the pushchair. I wont be doing it no more though as I do not use the pushchair anymore!!

This has happened to me a couple of times. You have to realize a two year old will grab everything. My son grabbed something in walmart one time but i can't remember what it was. I think it was something like small. I remember it was so cheap that when i found it once getting to the car i just left it in the buggy. Second time was at a store in the mall. My son grabbed a sweater and i didn't notice he had it. Went to walk out of the store got about ten feet from the entrance and noticed it. I took it back. The alarm didn't even go off.

Wow you are a very honest person! Well I believe that honesty is still the best police. Luckily I haven't tried buying something and forgot to pay for it but I must say that I have almost experienced that. Here's the story. I and my husband when we go shopping we tend to get thirsty. So we go to the cold drinks section of the supermarket and grab a drink. We open it and drink from it to obey our thirst. We put back the bottle or can in the cart to that we won't forget paying it when we reach the counter. But sometimes we tend to hold the bottle while the cashier is doing the grocery computation. At the end when everything is computed that is the only time that we realize we are holding something and then we just apologize to the cashier because she needs to punch the product again. The good thing is we always manage to check our hands and we are still in line while we pay so there is no hassle of going back. We decide to always put the bottle in the cart so that we just need to put it in front of the cashier the next time.
