How painful were your braces?

I thought mine were going to be horrible since my friends complained about them all the time their first few weeks. But when I got them, they weren't even that bad. Sure I couldn't eat anything that wasn't liquid or noodle but it's what I expected. I look back and I think my friends were being babies :P Who do you agree with?
