Annoying/funny differences between real life and TV life

Do you ever watch TV shows and notice common ordinary things that are missing? If so..what? And I know that they are shows, and props and not real life and don't have time to do things like we do in the real world and all that... but sometimes it just annoys me as it is so obvious!
I watch soaps and this is on there often.... I notice many of the women never carry a purse! And those that do, the purse is so tiny and small, they couldn't even fit their cell phone nad car keys in it! They never have car keys in their hands. And the onest hat do carry a purse - the purse is so flat it is obvious there isn't anything in it! Granted it is a prop but at least stuff it with newspaper so it looks like she's got something in it instead of just a flat pancake thrown over her shoulder that sticks out like a sore thumb! When was the last time you carried a flat or tiny purse!!!
And on regular tv and soaps - anything - they can always find the cordless phone at home. I have two and since the point of cordless is to be able to "take it with you".. I do and when I hang up I don't walk back and hang it up - as don't most people.... but on tv... it is always right there near them!
And no matter how cold it is.. they women still just slide into a short waisted light-to medium weight jacket - with their waists hanging out! 10 feet of snow on the ground, but just that little jacket! And then when they come in from a snow outside, they never have snow on their shoes or cuffs of their pants.
And of course.. every woman always wakes up in full, perfectly placed makeup! Hair in perfect style!
IS there anything you see on TV shows that are "real life" but forgotten on the screen? How about the men actors?

Daytime television sets just must not have a bathroom in it. You never see them go the bathroom, something we could never get away with. They never do dishes or laundry. They never go grocery shopping. Most of all they give characters kids, but then you never see them unless they fall into the plot!! There are a lot of television shows like that. They are the invisible children. They are written into the show but you see them maybe once a month!

Yeah, no one ever has to just leave to go to the bathroom - unless they are pregnant and then they make a huge deal about it when in real life, we tried to keep it quiet and not make a scene! And no kids.. yeah - especially on soaps - they have kids and you seldom see them and then one day they suddenly age a dozen years literally over night! SAS- Sudden Aging Syndrome is what they call it on Soaps!

No one ever eats. Even when they show characters in a restaurant, they just sit and talk without any food. Sometimes they'll order but then leave before their food arrives. The one exception that stands out in my mind is the Gilmore Girls. Those two were always stuffing something in their faces.
And you couldn't even fit lipstick or lip gloss in one of those "purses"!

That's another one! Yeah, I liked GIlmore Girls.. and I did notice... first they were always eating like you say, but they were always slim and trim and skinny! ANd what they ate was always junk food and fattening stuff and still always skinny! And then as on many shows... they are broke, unemployed yet they still eat out! Oh, for the tv life!!!

Have you ever noticed how skinny they are? The stories on Soaps are pretty boring lately, so I watch just to rest my brain... but since the storlines are no good.. I watch the people... those women as so skinny - they turn sideways and you almost miss them in the scene! They are so dang skinnny - and they say the camera adds 10 poinds.. so... can you imagen how skinny they are in real life!!?!

That brings up another one.... No one ever exercises but they are still skinny. I know the actors exercise like crazy but we are talking TV Land here (the general land of television, not TV Land the network).

Yeah, I notice a lot of stuff like that too. One thing I notice all of the time is when people are on the phone, they don't bother to say goodbye, they just hang up at the end of a sentence. Most real people say 'bye' 'see ya' or something. In real life if a person didn't have the courtesy to say bye, the other person may still be talking, or worse...wonder what they did to tick off the other person (or something.) The words 'good bye' signal the conversation is over, but when somebody just hangs up it'd leave you wondering (if it happened in real life that is.) There's lots of other common things that are missing, guess that's the movie biz for ya lol.
Too true about the gals on tv never carrying a purse. Most of us women carry a purse for a good reason, and they're not little bitty pancake purses either. Funny too, I've noticed that it can be freezing and a blizzard and there they are with short sleeves or a light coat etc. Can't think of anything with the male actors, except their hair is always perfectly groomed no matter what they've been doing.

LOL that is so true :):):) Maybe I should be a part of one of those shows so I could always know where my cordless phone is :)
It is true that on tv and movies things always seem so perfect and working right on cue, it would be nice if it was like this in real life.
On the other hand.. maybe not. WHen everything is completely perfect it kind of gets boring LOL

That's a good one - all doctors. But I ask this - do doctors still use pagers these days? They always "get a page" from the hospital and have to leave... I didn't think pagers were around anymore since the cell phone, but then again... what do I know... I hate cell phones!

Off on a tangent here.... my mom works in the medical field, not a doctor, not even close but she has a pager. They are getting ready to switch everyone to Blackberries but for the time being she has a pager.

I know what you mean. It seems like the hero can always jump farther, hang by his fingertips longer, and even climb back up. After taking several bullets he can still whip the pants off three guys that are twice his size. Now really, do you know anyone in real life that can do that?

I've noticed that TV characters rarely seem to lock their doors. This conveniently lets uninvited guests barge in at any time, but even when people leave their houses they often don't lock up their houses behind them! That may not be the most unrealistic thing because I do know people in real life who are pretty lax when it comes to locking up as well, but I'm pretty paranoid about that myself so it's something I always notice on TV shows.

You're right, they dont... and on the flip side of that.. like on General Hospital...here Sonny Corinthos is the huge mob boss..has body guards all over the place, guards on his property, maximum security all around him and his... yet people are always just walking in unexpectedly... pushing past these huge body guards.... waiting in his living room when he walks in ... comes through the back doors. It is like Grand Central Station in his living room... yet he has guards and security up the wazoo!!!
