DVRs and commercials...

Lately, I have been finding myself purposely not watching the shows I like and recording them on my DVR just so I can fast forward thru the commercials. It's not that I am doing something else that needs to be done, or that something else requires my attention, I would just reather skip thru the commercials which seem to be more and more plentiful. So tell me, do you ever record shows for later, just so you can skip the commercials?

yeah i priced them but my cable company charges 15 a month to have it and then you have to upgrade your cable package to even use it with it which was another 15 a month and my hubby changed jobs and took a huge pay cut so i coudlnt afford to up anything charge wise on my cable bill.. hell i had to lose my movie channels because of the cost.. i looked into buying them outright and its hard to find a regular dvr since everyone sells tivo and my cable company doesnt work with tivo and i would still have to upgrade my cable if i owned the dvr.. so right now i will just have to suffer sigh

That is so not right. I honestly can say i don't know how i got along without this contraption. I used to used my vcr quite a bit, but it was such a pain to program. Now with the DVR it'll actually look for the program for me. It's one of my favorite toys.

ugh, we just canceled our movie channels to save a few dollars each month. Most of the time I don't miss them, but once in a while when i'm bored I'll go to switch to see what movies are on only to remember they aren't there anymore. It's a bummer.

I do that all the time! I tape my soaps during the day and watch them when I get home fom work. I can watch all three soaps in about an hour and a half. I will dvr the shows I want to watch at night and go do something else until half an hour is taped. Then I start watching it and zip right through.

I have always taped my soaps, even in the ancient days of VCRs(gasp). I have gotten worse though lately when I watch, when it gets to characters that have really been annoying me I'll just skip their scenes entirely. I think the last time I watched All My Children it only took me about 15mins, lol.

I do the same thing! Some of the characters are just so boring and over-rated. I am already tired of Bianca and Reece. I am also tired of Greenlee. She is leaving, so why should I care what she does?

I'm right there with ya. I fast forward Ryan and Greenlee(yuck) and usually Erica (she has just really been annoying me lately.)

Sure. That is one of the best reasons for having the dvr.

It is nice to be able to do that. There are too many commericials on TV in my opinion. I wish I could recored all of the programs I watch and fast forward through the commericails. I do use my DVR to do that if I am watching the program at a later date. It is nice to be able to do.

I am lucky, most of my prgrams don't conflict with each other and can record 2 at a time so I'm usually able to catch everything. There is a Dvr now that you can actually record 4 shows at once, amazing!

Yes I do this all the time. I really can't stand commercials anymore, they just get dumber and longer. I will purposefully make myself go do something else for about fifteen minutes even when one of my shows is on, so I can fast forward. The only problem is when I am being lazy and just want to sit there. So maybe I will start it a few minutes in and then I realise I can't fast forwarded the commercials at the end of the show. Sometimes I even fast forward really slow so its still going faster than the commercial but I dont have to watch it. It buys me a few extra seconds of less commercials that way, lol.
