I saw the film this weekend. found the film nice, and true to the life style of the slum dwellers.
But i guess it was hyped a lot for all the wrong reasons. As much as i would like it to get an oscar, i dont think it deserves the oscar. If an indian film maker had made the same film, i'm sure he would captured the essence much better. The director here was trying to make a film , and yet not thread on dangerous teritory.
All in all an okay film. what do you think?

I agree with you to some extent. I too think that the movie was hyped a lot. But it's far better than the cmmercial Indian films mainly hindi. It doesn't mean that good movies are not being made here. Good classic movies are being neglected here. Most of them doesn't get publicity in India. So how can they be noticed by the out siders.

Yes it is a really nice movie ans shows some reality of life. And this film got golden awards i think.
