Construction: Lanes "Shift" - Why on Earth do People Slam on Their Breaks?!?

Lanes "SHIFT" Construction Sign - This is a construction sign to inform drivers that the lanes are shifting ahead. They are not in their typical pattern due to construction and there is a shift.

Do they not know that this is likely to cause an accident? It is so upsetting the way people view construction signs. If the traffic patterns are altered, due to contstruction, that's what the alert signs are for. They're not to scare or alarm, just to inform. I was driving down the interstate and saw all these brake lights. And, they weren't just "taps" or "slow-downs"; they were hitting their brakes hard. This also happens in the "cattle-shutes". People see a concrete divider and panic. Panicking can cause an accident as well. I wish people would here to the signs, and just drive w/caution. People who don't pay attention till the last second, and those who are afraid of construction zones can possibly cause avoidable accidents. Maybe, knowing there's construction (IF they know), they should take a few extra minutes and take an alternate route.

Oh this is so aggravating when it happens and yet it causes a lot of accidents. You can be cruising along at a good clip and then BAM, the idiots in front slam on the brakes. Makes ya just wanna growl! The other idiots that get me on the highways are the ones who travel up the shoulder of the road when traffic is backed up. I love those truckers who run blockades for us out there when that happens though.

For sure. Some truckers are nice, and obey the rules and common courtesies. But, some think they own and can control the road to their own set of standards.

I hate when people do that! I think some of these idiots see flashing lights and immediately think it's the cops and start mashing on their break pads. You know the thing that ticks me off even more? Is when I'm driving on the highway and the moron in front of me is constantly pumping on their brakes. And I finally switch lanes to pass the idiot and the next car is 4 miles in front of them. What the hell was all the breaking for if no one is in front of you!!!? I started a conversation a long time ago about how I hate traffic. It's always some dumb jacka$$ that feels the need to come to a complete stop so they can look at another accident on the other side of the highway! The thing that I hate the most is when the far left lane comes to a complete stop. There is never any reason why there should be traffic in the far left lane. There's no exit to get off, and there's no on comming traffic to slow anyone down. So why on earth when there is traffic, why the hell is the left lane slowed down!? The left lane should always be moving. And to all you loosers out here driving 60 mph or less, stay out of the left lane! The left lane is for people going 70 and over. I hate it when I come up behind these fools doing 55 in the far left!. And I hate it when someone in the far left lane decides to get off an exit at the last minute. You can't just work your way over from the far left and expect to get off. That cause even more accidents. If you don't know where the hell you're going, or even if you know you're going to be getting off an exit, you should be working your way out of the far left lane way ahead of time. Stop swerving across the highway at the last minute and cutting everyone off!

Amen brother! (Maybe you'll enjoy the other discussion I just posted - if you feel like another rant!LOL.) But, you're TOTALLY right. People do not know the rules and/or COMMON COURTESIES of the road. It's not "rocket science". It should be common sense. Some do not have it. AND, some intelligent people know this and chose not to drive on the interstate. That's because they're smart enough not to over-estimate their abilities. But, some "morons" just hop on to the highways and use their own "rules" not being courteous to anyone else. :(
