How often do you have dinner at a restaurant? Is it something you do as a treat? Do you like eating out and where would you usually go when eating dinner outside. Is there a cuisine that you always go for i.e indian, chinese, italian, thai etc?

I used to LOVE eating out in restaurants, but now I'd rather order food to go so I can bring it home and enjoy a movie or quiet conversation over dinner. We do this once a week or once every two weeks as a "date night" treat. Our favorite is the Chinese place down the street from us - they do the best job keeping food fresh and delicious.

I know what you mean, sometimes eating take-away food at home is one of the cosiest things ever!

I love Chinese food the most but I also go for Japanese, Italian and Thai food. I do eat out almost everyday but its for lunch mostly and I seldom have dinner at a restaurant because dinner in our family is a 'family time' or bonding time. My parents cook dinner for us everyday and since they are very good cook, I find it hard to consider eating at a restaurant. So instead of dinner in a restaurant, I do opt for lunch instead.

I work just across the biggest mall in our city and it's a bit expensive but it's my way of pampering myself also. I don't eat all the time at expensive restaurants. I just make sure that I don't go over my budget.

So you eat lunch outside everyday? Is because of work? I guess it must be quite expensive... It's nice that dinner time is family time. We are quite like that in my family too and my mum is a great cook!

If I go out to eat it is almost always because someone invited me. I wouldn't suggest it with my own budget. And sometimes if it is my parents, or a close friend, they insist on paying. But I like to pay my own way, so I always try to get something reasonably priced.

That sounds sensible AmbiePam. Yes I think that everyone is keeping a close eye on their budget at the moment

I like to go to the Chinese buffet because they have all you can eat Crab. I haven't been there for months, though, because of the economy. I feel that I should save every cent I can because I might need it at some point.

Hello dragon54u. I know what you mean. It's probably sensible to keep some cash saved.

Hi UK_Shree. When I was in the Philippines, I, my boyfriend and his family dine out every Sunday after we go to church and hear mass. Its been a traditional to their family and its very nice since the family have a chance to explore new cuisine or restaurant together. Lately I and my boyfriend, eat out a lot since both of us are busy and have no chance to cook our food. We always crave for asian cuisine. There's this Thai resto that we dine very often. We like thier fried rice, pancit and spare ribs a lot. This discussion makes me so hungry at the moment..

lol... I am starting to get hungry too from reading all the great responses to this discussion! It's great that you had the opportunity to dine out with your boyfriends family so regularly, it must have been a great way to get to know each other better

I used to eat out about 2 or 3 times a month. I am trying to cut back on my spending. I like going to a chinese buffet here and I love going to the Sagebrush which is a nice steak house. Sometimes I would go to this great mexican resturant. I like a variety of foods so I try to mix it up and go different places..oh yeah..theres a seafood resturant a few miles away I like to visit every once and a while.
