I am a guy, hence do not apply mehandi on my hands, but love to see my girl doing it. Mehandi adorns the hands a lot, and it has become a part of indian heritage and culture. It is chiefly associated with weddings where the bride puts lovely mehandi designs all over her hands and feet. I love mehandi and sometimes try a bit of it (like a very small design or my name) on my palms as well!!

In my husband's country, which is Mauritania, they call it henna. I've had it done twice. I think it's pretty, but make sure you are comfortable. I kept fidgiting in my seat and smudged it. The lady that applied it got mad a couple of times at me. I don't like doing it, but once it's done, I love and think it's beautiful.
