Just when I was going to see light the darkness came in again

I was expecting and really needing my tax refund. It wasn't much but I need it desperatly. Well It is being offset for my student loans so I don't get any of it not one red cent of it. Why am I so freakin' ticked off? Because my ex owes over $27,000.00 in arrears and past due child support and they were supposed to offset his tax refund last year and he got ALL every last bit of his refund last year and will likely get it this year too!! But they can take my measly little $700 and leave me with nothing. That is not fair. Have you ever felt the cruel unfairness of our "government" before? They let the people who need help desperatly fall by the wayside and let those who are lying and cheating live it up. It is the epitomy of lack of caring.

Isn't there a place to go where they can go after him? I'm sure I've heard of some business that does that, but I could be wrong. It's been so long ago that I saw it I can't be sure. That's the way it works. Just look at Blagojevich, going to talk shows instead of his trial. But he isn't in jail for contempt of court. That's a pretty high-profile contempt, too! Then there's Maddox. Put businesses out of business, scam thousands of people, but allowed to be out on bail and live in luxury. Some fairness, hey? I feel for ya girl. So sorry for all your troubles.

Two states are "after" him but they haven't accomplished anything yet except faxing each other. MO requested updated pay histories on the 21st of this month so they can hand it over to the MO state attorney. Florida's hands are tied since he lives in MO they have to lay requests for MO to do something and MO has 90 days to comply with each request. So everytime the 90 days comes due they request new payment histories which gives them another 90 days to do nothing. This is the first time they have alleged that they are turning it over to the state attorney so we shall see. I am not holding my breath.

I was told if I call anyplace like those "child support" collection people then child support enforcement in my state will not ever touch my case again. Plus those services are not free they take a huge percentage of the amount you are owed out of what they collect.

Do you ever go to the Chamber of Commerce? Or the courthouse? I think one of those places is where I saw help for that kind of stuff. They had lists of places to call for various things. Like child abuse, wife beating, child support problems, that sort. They can be very helpful about finding help. Give them a try. IT can't hurt!

I haven't seen a tax return in 18 years. The first year was a shocker I didn't believe they could take your money.'

I will never see another one that is for sure. I doubt if I will even get my ex's should they ever catch up with him and take his. They will probably take it too.

The same thing happened to me last year. We were supposed to get our stimulus and instead student loan took it. I have since gotten them just about paid off so that should be the end of that. I hope things work out for you. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG AND TRUST IN GOD**

My daugher went through the same thing last year with Student Loan. The thing with her was she was deemed disabled - the main Dr. in this sent all the required information to Student Loans. Well guess what - "They lost it all." Why didn't that surprise me. So when the Stimulus was paid they took her stimulus - then they told her to get a copi of the reports deeming her disabled. The Dr. had retired quite some time ago and we couldn't track his records down so we went to the attorney who represented her when SS had a hearing and she was classed as disabled by them. It cost me $55 to get copies of the atorneys records for her since she didn't have the money then it cost me more to send them by certified mail to the Student Loan people. They still have not acknowledged them even after numerous phone calls and she never got her $300 stimulus back either so she says this year she isn't even going to waste the time applying for the stimulus so they can take that too. She has Chrons disease, uncontrollable diabetes and suffers from acute manic depression and because Student Loans cam't do their job and keep track of information sent to them she is getting ripped off big time. I am at present in the UK but when I get back to te USA either May or June I am going to see our newly elected Congressman and raise some hell about these idiots.

It seems like the woman are the ones who get it in the end and the men who owe child support get off scott free. Makes no sense to me.

Hey sweet! Doesn't that always seem to be the way? Those that really need the money the government manages to take it away from! And then the others who manage to lie, cheat and steal they give it to them with like they deserve every penny! I just don't understand it either! Why do they let parents who are breaking the child support laws get the money directly instead of sending it to the parent that it is owed to? I thought that is what was supposed to happen? Why would they give the money to your X who is that deep in arrears?

Because he cheated the IRS. His wife got someone to file her taxes as head of household and my ex not on the tax return so they got the return with of course EIC for the two kids and I got nothing.

Last year not only did I not get any refund, I had to pay $600! And that was after I already had taxes taken out at work. This year I haven't had time to do my taxes yet, but I'm hoping for better results.

Unfortunately this happens to most of us at one time or another. I have an ex who was always screwing up his taxes and then years later it would come back on him and I would have to help pay for it. Me who never screwed it up and always paid the correct amount. I had to give up my refund for 3 years to straighten up his crappy financial crap. I get so sick of it all too. But so many people know how to get away with it! Absolutely NOT FAIR - I agree with you.

In your government my friend, no, but in my government, many times already. Yeah, these tax agencies are just the same. They collect taxes religiously to ordinary citizens and small businesses but all we know some huge companies are sometimes spared or collected partially. I tell you, it's really worst in my country! Good for you there where you're really enjoying your taxes worth thru very good medical services, etc..here, it's so terrible!
