I am not quite sure if this subject has yet been brought up about the show about the young girls entering beauty pageants. What is your take on this? Do you think that these girls are too young for such grown up contests?
When I say young girls I am talking about four and five year olds!1 person likes this

I think it depends on the child itself.
If she does it only because the mom wants her to then I think it's wrong, but if the child really likes it then why not.
I don't have children so I really can't judge people and there kids.

Shoot, they have babies in beauty pageants as well! I think it is ridiculous and agree that it is more for the mother than the child. You can't tell me that the child wants to do this on their own. I'm sure most little girls are not aware of beauty pagents until their parent gets them started in it. What does a parent hope to accomplish by having their child compete in a beauty contest? I think it could really harm a child's self-esteem, especially if they don't win. Gee, maybe that is why by the time some girls get to be teens they are so self centered and so competitive and mean to other girls! Hmmm - just a thought!

Parents who enter their young children in such contests should be convicted of child abuse. It is wrong and sends the wrong message to the child, setting her up for failure later in life. It's usually moms that do this, trying to re-live their unrewarding childhoods through their daughters. These people are sick and should not have children.
