I have learned that there is a very big importance of reading to pre school children. I believe that it will help them be good readers when they grow up. Do you agree with this idea?

No, I don't. I've never read for my kids and the two older reads a lot, just like I did and do. I hate to read for them so that's why. But I do believe that if you talk a lot with your kids they will know a lot of words that way and can be great readers that way.

Yes, I agree. I think it is good to read to kids. My son is 9 and he is still not thrilled about reading, but he loves being read to and it helps him lern to read better. Even if it is unwilling learning.

I absolutely agree with this. I introduced books to both my girls when they were babies. I showed them pictures and just talked about them, before they were old enough to appreciate any type of story. From the time they were physically able to hold board books in their own hands, they had a good supply of them to just play with, chew on (LOL!) and sort through. It kept them curious about books. We read together every day and it was wonderful for all of us. Both girls were reading well on their own before they started kindergarten and both are still voracious readers. They are also very good students and I do attribute this to them having good vocabularies and strong reading aptitude :)

my husband told me as a kid his mom always reads to him and that's how he loved to read. with me, it's the same thing and my mom always gives me picture books and so i've learned to love these. my mom also told me by brother was quite different in that he loves more the sounds when telling a story to him. and i guess with the many car toys given to him, he never really appreciate books. with me, i would plan to have my children love reading. it will make them smarter and have easier time in school. i read somewhere that when a person reads their right part of the brain gets "exercised" we use our imagination. it's cool actually.

Yes i used to read a lot when I was younger and I think I am reaping the benefits now.I find that I have pretty good was of expresssing myself .I also find that it helps my reasoning ability and my ability to grasp new concepts .It helps me to hold my own in conversations and gives me a certain confidence to speak because I know that what I am saying is based on facts

I think its really important. It kinda stimulates their brain, but it depends on the books that you read to them.Keep them away from tv for a while and givethem a book that will enhance their learning.
