sent me an email giving me very helpful hints in conserving money. I told her what I had posted but not where I had posted as she would join in and criticise me and embarrass me by saying I was wrong etc and telling you all, that I over plucked my eyebrows when younger so this is why they are sparse. And that I needed to lose weight and she doesn't like my hair style (actually, I feel great with this new style). Now before you read anymore remember that SHE IS RIGHT. O.K. Got it? Let's get cracking then. This is all about beauty on the cheap.
1. Mayonnaise on dry hair gives it a good conditioning. Cover with plastic bag - whatever- and leave for 15 mins before washing
2. Brunettes can rinse your hair with black coffee and do not wash out. Hair will be rich and shiny
3. eye cream - put Castor oil around yor eyes to prevent wrinkles
4. This is recommended BY ME - I did the following for 20 odd years. After cleansing face rub in a small amount of Vaseline. continue to wet the face until it is evenly distributed and doies not appear greasy. Vasleinie is great for removing make up - especially in the eye area. I cover feet with Vaseline and put on socks for over night softness of feet and hair skin too.
5. Store nail polish in fridge to prevent hardening. IF hardened already, place bottle in a cup of boiling water and in no time it will be as good as new.
6. dip a toothbrush in a mashed strawberry to remove yellowing and stains.
7. broken lipstick? Heat the broken ends together over a match until they melt enough to adhere together. Then let it cool in fridge.
8. For super soft skin. Take a handful of salt and add any cooking oil to make a paste and use as a body scrub - all over your body especially hands and feet. Then shower with very hot water to get the gue off you . I do this regularly and it works. super soft skin. Even just for it on your hands when they feel very dry. Okay, ready, steady, GO! What your favourite CHEAP beauty secret?

I use olive oil but any kind of oil will do the trick. Try it.

Those are great tips. Now I personally don't have any beauty secrets. Keeping up with my looks is the one thing I've never bothered with since getting married and having all these kids. I used to do it years ago, but I would spend loads of money on it.
My only suggestions are look for clearance sales on make up and perfumes. Get make up from places that allow trade ins if you don't like the color (like Rite Aid will let you exchange lipstick if the color isn't right for you). And instead of spending loads of money at beauty salons, dye your own hair, perm your own hair, and pluck your own eyebrows. Just do it carefully so you don't end up with no eye brows like you did :D

Oh, I had to add something else I just remembered. For those with dandruff, vinegar is a great remedy!

Yeah, me again... vinegar also kills nits, so save yourself from buying the extremely expensive lice shampoo, and use vinegar instead!

You see what good tips you came up with? Vinegar is wonderful. I buy it by the gallon now and use it with water on my tiles. My whole house is tiled and this has worked out very cheap. Bleach, vinegar and Vaseline. This would be my things that I must have. Thanks for responding

Wow...this is very helpful. I have tried mayonnaise before when I was in College and I didn't see the great result maybe because I rinse it fast due to the smell...I will love to try it again!
I am a big fan of vaseline too...I use that to my feet and wrap with socks also.
Lately, I have tried olive oil for my hair, massage it and then wrap with shower cap and wait for 15 minutes before rinsing. I love it!

I am going to try the olive oil tonight! Thanks for the tip. I just don't want to waste money. Vaseline is a prodcut that I will not be without. Better than a chap stick if you live in the cold. Thanks for responding

LOL, I think we have the same older sister.
What you do with the vaseline on the feet is good, but I do it with Vicks. For some reason that helps me relax and sleep.
I never buy blusher, I just put a couple of dots of lipstick on my cheeks and blend. Perfect match to lip color too.

I have another use for Vaseline. I rub it on my feet. Then wear socks to bed for the night. Helps keep feet from getting rough.
